I'm going back to the trilogy thread, where I can have intelligent conversation with Turnbull and Alexander Supalov about Hyman Roth and Batista and the $2 million that never made it to the island, and, and.....

AGAIN??? NEWS: July 31 SKINNY: Guillen will make his Oakland debut on Thursday and will immediately become one of the regular outfielders, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Those SOB bastids! Sheesh, good thing I have 42+ offense today... all ready for Pedro to chew away at in a few innings... And guys, I love those "songs" you've mentioned as much as the next guy/gal, but c'mon... we don't wanna upset PL by being off topic Rated PG-13, remember? :p

More deadline movement effecting my Yanks... they got rid of Mondesi to AZ yesterday, and now Ventura to Buffy's Dodgers. And NY got A Boone from Cinci. And Bethie's Ponson to San Fran... SC's BoSox get Suppan...
Should make our roster match-ups a bit more interesting...

Boy, all that work to claw my way back up, inch by inch, and I barely have time to take a breather and what do you know....the weekend is here. And what's worse is my weekend is another out-of-towner. I leave this afternoon and am not back 'till Sunday afternoon. I'm crossing my fingers, throwing salt over my shoulder, stroking the blarney stone that I don't fall too far. Or fall at all, that would be nice!
I have a tendency to wear my heart on my sleeve - I have a history of taking off my shirt.....

A grand slam in extra innings agains my PS - could it hurt anymore ?? Anyway I too will be away but for a week on vacation. I would like to say that I will miss each and every one of you and will think of you all daily - but that would be a lie so I can't. But the other day I found out the place we are staying doesn't have a live phone jack I'll have my laptop but no connection - but I will take my wireless modem and hope for a signal. If not I can see myself driving around until I get a signal - make my changes and head back. I can't believe that - stupid game - see what it has done to me. But if that is the case, I will miss all the intellectual talks that go on in this thread each day - from the daily whines, to the constant threats - to PL trying to restore order while viewing porn - how will I manage? :p Of course if I can get a signal I should be able to peek in and chat some. So you kids all behave yourself while I am gone. I know Daddy Dearest will be keeping all in line though.

Originally posted by J Geoff: Once you have your "dream team", within budget, you can just leave it like that and not make any changes until the end of the game. That's the easy way, and there are many players I leave all season unless they get hurt.
There's a caveat: Every Monday (probaby not tomorrow though), the players values change. If they did well the past week, their price goes up, and if they didn't poorly, it goes down. It can also stay the same.
If you choose players every single day, after a week you'll likely lose money on the best players. I tend to pick a "great" player and leave him there until he gets hurt, even if he's not playing on a particular day. That way, you can keep him at the cheapest price.
Basically, you can spend as much or as little time as you want playing...

Originally posted by plawrence: Strategy tips from JG Jeez, you're a broken record, aren't ya? :p It sure works for HH, who is #4 for the week without changing a damn thing. And going on vacation, without access, what ELSE can you do but build a solid team with a decent PS and hope for the best? The part that says "you can play as little or as much as you want" is true. I won't repeat my retraction again on that "strategy" though... :p :p

Last year, he ended up being great, and it was worth the once-a-week offday to keep him at that price. He ended up being like $7 or something. Guys like that. Like, COREY PATTERSON that PL had the entire time, thru thick and thin, until he got hurt. :p (Hell, PL even stuck with him a couple days after that ) "In the past..." meaning, until near the end of the last half And gee, see how it's working for me now, doing it the "right" way?
