How'd they ever have today's pitchers up there at 3:20 AM?

Ah, Hagen. Allow me to be the first to welcome you back. Your display of sportsmanship in the first half was, I'm sure, an inspiration to us all .

Before you start playing though, I advise you to read the last 70 pages or so of this thread. There are many valuable strategy tips you may want to pick up on.

Good news and bad news for me - the good news is for the first time in 4 days my PS didn't get me minus points. The bad news is that at once having 17 points for me I end up with 3.

This game sucks - I might not play anymore.

And someone explain why when Batista only went 5 innings - gave up 3 hits and had 0 ERs against him do they move to Randolph (?)in the sixth, who promptly serves up a 2 run homer to Bonds.

Have I mentioned that this game sucks recently. Hey at least I am still ahead of PLAW though :p - but where is the little simile of the nervous guy sweating though?

Fine by me also... Then plaw can whine/cheer here about how the Nets are doing! By the way, I think Jason Kidd made the smartest move in the NBA by staying in the East with the Nets. He isn't sniffing the NBA finals if he went to the West.

And how about these latest trades... the talent drain from the East to the West is staggering.

Anyway, in the catch phrase of the second half, "Let's get back to business."

SC is in a zone, Z-O-N-E, in the second half. How's that for a jinx?!

Once again plaw and I have the same pitching staff. Again, I hope today is one of your good pitching staff days plaw!

Only 5 points between me and you Doucheman. Sorry, but the Indians have to go down tonight. No way around it.

Indians

And hopefully SC playing with his Wood won't result in too much either.

I understand. You had no choice. I mean, if you would trample over your friend Buffy and send her tailspinning from 2nd to 5th, who am I to stand in your way?! :p

By the way, I love the Astros and all (originally growing up in Houston), but I gotta do it:

Eight afternoon games today:

Philly vs. Wood (SC, OA, Pork)
Royals (JJ) vs. Twins
Colorado vs. Dodgers (LDV, Bad Daddy)

Should make for an eventful afternoon.

I guess we'll find out what kind of powers you have after tonight, won't we. Be careful though, once you create your own curse there's no going back. Be prepared for the backlash.

Sorry Buffy With the way I have been going with PS you might be in 7th place at the end of the day. I should probably offer as a public service announcement each day what PS I selected so you can all avoid. But than I thought about it more and decide - screw you all - misery loves company - if I'm going down, I'm taken as many down with me.

Can you feel the love on the board. :p

You know on a avg. day I would be glad for 54 points score, but I see that it wasn't that great when so many others had 60+ day.
Oh well, still better that a sharp stick in the eye or negative numbers!
There wasn't to much movement, then again the girls have split apart.

Bethie and SC look like they are taking no prisoners. For me it is a hot shower and off to find something to do.

Don't worry FS, these 60+ average days won't last. I personally liked it better when the player values were high. It's more fun to find the low-valued gem than having these superstars all the time.

I agree, DB... what is so ironic is when I do my roster and I have all kinds of money left over but I have the so-called heavy hitters. Then I scramble trying to get an even BETTER hitter. Problem is we all end up having the same good sluggers.

More fun to find that $2.9 person and get him on the night he hits Homer # 3 and #4 for the season

Couldn't have said it better myself, DB & LD.
As a matter of fact, I did say something similar earlier, like "Anyone can pick Delgado, Soriano, A. Rod, etc..."

Much more skill involved when you have to decide which 2 or 3 heavy hitters you really want, and the fill out your roster with the scrubeenies.

I, too, have had days when I was unable to fill the whole cap. Semmed to have a few hundred thou left over, and then when I went back I couldn't find anyone more expensive that I wanted more since I tend to pick the guy I want the most the first time through the selection process. The only time I go back and make a change is if I'm over the cap.

But WTF do I know? I'm in the cellar

And BTW guys, I'm a little disappointed in all of you. . I was the only one to welcome HH back. What happened to Fantasy Baseball League comraderie?

There once was a Fantasy Baseball League Comraderie? I must have missed that meeting. Plus, I'm geering myself up for round 2 of, "I started 7 days late".

PL - The PS's almost always update at the 3AM deadline, at least when the site is running properly.

As for all this talk about maximizing salary cap, I'll said it again: Money isn't everything. Sure, I'm guilty. If I have $ left over I'll look around to see if I can "upgrade", but I sure don't sweat it if I have $ left over.

HH - If you're really gonna play 'til the end, then welcome back :p So you wait a week to play for that good ol' (very ol') "I started late" excuse, eh?

Not too many flashing their Wood around today. I was actually a bit nervous about picking him today; but hey, when the opportunity arises, why not grab it?

Grand Slam by Abreu in the top of the 6th! That was against (limp) Wood by the way... not that I'm paying particular attention to that game. :p

Well speaking of your Wood today - it appears that your nervousness was for a good reason. Yep - your Wood didn't go very deep today. I understand that is more prone to happen as you get later in the season. :p

Yep - the fighting Phils batted around and then some. I think they got tired and finally stopped. So DB, these Cubbies - they are your team, right. :p

Damn you DB. If your jinx works I will take the Cubs PS for the rest of the season and you can watch your Cubbies on the golf course during the playoffs. Besides your doesn't scare me - although I don't have Wood - I still feel cocky.

How did I know that you two would catch my semi-veiled jinx there?

It's like talking to a pitcher who is throwing a no-hitter or a perfect game- you just don't do it!

So... still a shutout through 5 innings...

Bad Daddy, go ahead and use the one pitching staff method that HH and UU used in the first half. It's better than the method you are using now! :p

To your first question - today in addition to sharing a PS - we are also sharing a brain. Gee I feel like crunching numbers now

Regarding my selection of PS - I am hmmm experimenting early in the season - I am developing a system - you should fear me soon.

So how are your Cubbies - opps looks like the Phils scored a few more. Wow JGeoff and his Wood really came up short today. Huh - like that ain't anything he hasn't heard before. :p

Let me see... what system would that be???... I know:

Step 1: Pick first choice pitching staff.
Step 2: Pick someone else because the first choice will now score negative points because of Bad Daddy curse.
Step 3: Repeat step 2 because next choice also has Bad Daddy curse.
Step 4: Pick team playing the Tigers.

:p
