It has, but I think only on double-header nights so far (with us)... a few of us have done it (of course, the same night )

A night I score 55 points (which is usually better than average) and I drop from 4th to 9th.

As a group, we are averaging a whopping 54.5 points each per day.

I didn't figure out the entire group for the first half, but my average was only about 45. Including everyone else, it was probably well below 40. Even eliminating the non-players, it still had to be less than 45.

So my prediction is this: The law of averages will take over. The flashes in the pan will come down to earth. 103 point days are a fluke. The cream will rise.

Way to have bragging rights Bad Daddy. And all that whining about no Schmidt. Salud! I'm not gonna complain about a 72 point day. I did what I set out to do and took 4th from Doucheman. Only 24 points from 1st. Don't know how plaw feels, but I like this game.

So what if for the third straight day the Pitching Staff I select doesn't use the pitcher they were supposed to (No Dontrelle Willis today--it's Brad-ugh-Penny)?

This "second half" stuff is BS anyway. Who cares? It's the overall title that should count, anyway. :p Besides, I won the first half, and nobody can ever take that away from me. Nobody. Ever.

Only problem is that I spent the whole night out and didn't get home to change my team. Oh well, Life is good so why sweat the small stuff.

Of course most will do well in the beginning of the season, when good-player values are lowest. And because this second half is a few weeks shorter than the first half, overall we should do slightly better than last half. While luck plays a big part in this game, so does a certain amount of skill. I think during this second half, as we all started at the same time, those with said luck and skill will rise to the top. Two days into the season is not much of an indicator, so I hope all the whining is in fun Gloating is always acceptible

PL has decided to make Overall Champ what's important even tho many of you started late. How nice of him I thought about that, too, but because so many started so late in season one, I didn't want to make it formal. But hey, it's just a game, so okay, when LD or I win overall, we'll get the prize

Averaging a sample of 2 days isn't very statistically sound, by the way. The sample size is way too small. You'd really need about 3 weeks of games for a sound average For instance, the percentile points: I have 102 points in two days (avg of 51 per day), but my percentile ranking is only 71.6. Too early to worry about it!

What about the ranking from them, worth anything as a gauge? or still to early.

Yeah, same thing. Someone going from #10 to #1 can happen this early, but try that in a couple weeks (or even a few more days)

DS, I majored in Psychology (with the Lab Science option) and had to take a few courses in it. Don't ask me to figure out any math equations at this point, though

It's great that you've retained it. Most of my friends can't remember a thing. The logical crossover between math and econ was stat in college so in my third year, I decided to add it as a major. It's not useful in direct application (other than further developing analytical thinking) but I was going nuts with it at my first poker game last night!

While the math behind it may not necessarily be useful day-to-day (tho it could be argued it could be), knowing the concepts behind statistics (especially when questioning the validity of a poll, for instance) has been helpful. As for probability, I've always had problems fully grasping that, but it hasn't effected my poker game all that much -- that's just a matter of paying attention to the cards and the other players
