Things are going pretty slow this morning... People must be gearing up for the 2nd half!

Looks like the Yanks might pick up Benitez for the 2nd half of the year. This does not bode well for their pitching staff. What... Jesse Orosco wasn't available? This hurts me in other fantasy leagues because Benitez will now be a middle reliever, so I can't pick up the saves.

Garret Anderson had a huge all-star weekend. I wonder if it will carry over into the second half of the year... Who do I have in left-field anyway?

I believe the "current standings" are in the order in which we joined the league.

Some observations I had on last night's All-Star hoopla, or what I like to call the Parade of Pitchers:

1. Richie Sexson is FREAKISHLY tall.

2. I wonder what it would be like to be at a Boone Family Reunion. Pod people at best. Aaron will be forever known as the "cute" or "hot" one. He somehow escaped that spaced out dweeb look the rest of them seem to have - he is very easy on the eyes.

3. Who told Amy Grant she could sing? Or at best, sing live? Ugh! One of the worst renditions of the song I have ever heard. Funny thing, is she actually looked a bit pissed as if she KNEW she was horrible. Oh, and the camera WAS NOT kind to her.

4. And, As Douche-Man already pointed out...Gagne blew the save?? Unfreakinbelievable!

The two roto leagues- I'm in 4th out of 12 and 4th out of 10th. Hmmm... is there a pattern going on here. One of those leagues, I won last year. That league, I care about, but my pitching really sucks and Sweeney and Kent has been hurt.

This is the first year I'm playing Head-to-Head for baseball, and I must not know what I'm doing because I'm 11th out of 12. Yea, that's right, I'm not afraid to admit it! I blame it on my draft.

In any case, those three leagues take a back seat to this one. Not much trash talking going on over there...

The player values have been reduced so much, anyone right now can build an all-star super team. It's a bit too tempting to pick big names rather than who *should* perform well on a particular day. Everyone will likely do fairly well the first few weeks cuz hot-shot players are so cheap right now. It's the staying power that will determine it - but I've been distracted enough to pick good overall players (and hardly any I've used before, by the way!) to see how they do. Dag, I'll probably not be over 8th Place tomorrow... sigh... lol

I agree. The fun was figuring out which one or two big ticket guys you wanted, and then finding the cheap guys who were hot, like Blalock early on, or Kata later. They should have left the values where they were.

Umm, no. You don't get out of it THAT easily!!

First off, it's a "new" game, where they can't assume players have played the first half. Second, if values were left where they ended up in season one, it'd be virtually impossible to have any decent player a month from now, at like $9-10 million.

I don't see it as "dumbing down" so much as I see it taking a different strategy perhaps. And different is a good thing. If you don't feel you can keep up, well, then, concede the victory to me now and I'll look for you when football starts -- if you dare!
