Yeah plawrence found us allright....as much as I would like to (woof) trash talk him, I cant even SMELL him from where I am... Props to plawrence for another good day. He must subscribe to How-To-Win-At-Fantasy-80-Points-At-A-Time magazine.

BUT.......

JGeoff - The game just ended. And though your 12 Dodger points were impressive, I think I just passed you.

Is it me, or what? I just went to our Group BB, and couldn't find the button to post a new message

I guess I'll have to do my whining and crying here

Friggin' Mets. 3-0 lead, bottom of the 8th, well pitched game by Glavine, then Weathers and Benitez blow it, and the Mutts lose 4-3. Cost me at least 11 points.

SC and I found out the hard way, you have to hit the "Edit" button on your old message on that board and just wipe out the existing message and start a new one. I'm assuming more woofs and caws. Beware, there ARE a few right on your tail.

Well that bites. And speaking of biting my team does also. You can say what you want about my 'boyz' but if nothing else they are consistent - 43 points each game. And last night I didn't even have catcher - what's up with that? When do the salaries recalculate - is it Sunday or Monday ?

News
A day after manager Grady Little speculated that reliever Brandon Lyon might start on Friday due to potential rainy conditions, it appears that Pedro Martinez will get the call after all, the Boston Globe reported. The paper said that Little still may change his mind depending on the weather, but the local forecast does not have showers hitting until 4:00 p.m., nearly two hours into the game.

Views
It's very possible that Martinez's outing will be shortened, but fantasy owners should still plan on him starting. He could easily pick up a five- or six-inning victory.
This was before the current rain delay, before the start of the game. My picking Pedro just had to screw it up... I sure hope he plays!!

Update: YUP! Game postponed! Another zero pitching day for me! Woohoo!!

What is this! All these cancelled baseball games, the Masters being cancelled - half of the country is being rained out! I think I'll just go with the Dome strategy- only play Minnesota, Toronto, and the other dome teams when they are playing at home.

if only it raining in San Juan(where the Mets are playing the Expos) like it is across the nation . Thru 5 innings the Mets have given me -12 points . -12! thats pethetic. At least ive learned my lesson- never rely on a 40 year old to get ya points(David Cone)
He got rocked! Maybe it was air in San Juan

Sorry to hear that, Andre' - but yeah, zero is better than negative any day! It's a good thing the few hitters I have today are hitting tho! *whew!*

Mets played an exhibition game in San Juan--Cone pitched, and got rocked. Burnitz hit 3 homers in that game.

Austin Kearns?? What hat did you pull him out of, JG?

Now, on to serious stuff. The Red Sox play a day-night doubleheader tomorrow to make up today's rainout. According to the "How to Play" explanation, the statistics for a "delayed" game (i.e. a rain out) get counted on the day the game is played. I interpret that to mean that everyone who had Boston or Baltimore players on Friday will have their stats count on Saturday.

My question is this: Which game tomorrow counts for the staistics (presumably the one which wasn't part of the original schedule. And suppose I pick Boston as my pitcher for tomorrow? How do I knopw which game I get Pedro? I'm confused Somebody wanna read the rules and offer an opinion? Or does someone know for sure (JG ?) and not wanna tell me? I'll understand. This is, after all, war.

Austin Kearns - lol - I never even heard of the guy - it was dumb luck, trust me! 16 pts of dumb luck today! 35 pts w/ no pitching

As for double-headers - no! If you pick the Bosox or Birds tomorrow, you will get TWO games of pitching in one day. You get NADA (zero, ziltch) for the rained-out day.

I just got home, so couldn't answer you sooner, sorry... but it's a dilemna... do you go with, like, Clemens against the D-Rays, or do you go with Pedro & Wakefield? If the BoSox win both games tomorrow, you're golden. If they split, it *may* still be better than any other single game, depending on the scores.

Cuz it's Pedro, I went w/ the double-header... you're given at least 18 innings (x3 points) to start. But of course, Pedro can give up 0-2 (or 6!) ERs, and Wakefield like 4-5... but I'm going with the 54 "given" points and work down from there, rather than the 27 points. If that made any sense

Remarkably, that makes PERFECT sense to me. You gotta think in terms of IP's with the double headers but since I was somehow drinking and unbelievably distracted tonight as I tried to make sense of the schedules, I thought Boston had rescheduled for a June date. On second glance that was the Yankees. Doh! I just cannot handle thought of another rain postponement happening, so I picked my man Kevin Brown (against SF - yikes!). Now you have me worried in the wee, wee hours of the morning that I did not think everything through with my usual twisted logic.

And dammit, if I didnt predict you would only be behind me for a day...

But I sailed past the Douche-Man!

JG - do you play fantasy football at this site too? I have played past years at NFL.com

Yep - job termination or divorce is imminent in my future.

I dont think I am allowed to play in my husband's league next year in Football. I was in 1st place all the way up till the 2nd to last week when I dropped down to 3rd (thank you Bret Favre ) but 2 fantasy people competing in the same house for players AND modem time, well.....??? Oh, and I was supposed to let him WIN???

Those guys really hated being beat by a chick....luckily noone on this BB challenge will have to worry about that!

So the move today would have been to load up with hitters from Bost and Balt, too. If that's the case. SC is in good shape with Nomar, Ramirez, and Trot Nixon.

Good thing you posted that here where nobody's gonna see it. Otherwise, we'd have to hear from the 10 or 15 juvenile delinquents that have a crush on you. I remember the comments inspired by your picture in the Mama Corleone thread. :p

By the way, LDV, there's a thread in General Discussion called "Wierdest Dream". I'm still waiting for your contribution.

Ha! To dream, one must first sleep. Wierdest dream? Like I am going to share with the likes of anyone under 35? Ick.

I do have ONE recurring dream - perhaps that is best told over dinner. Looks like I'm gonna be buying.

But my dream of late involves traveling all over the country to visit baseball stadiums only to be completely RAINED ON when I get there!

btw: I married a saint, lucky me. He ain't going anywhere - though I sure didn't pick someone with the "jock" gene......

You know, I posted that I was LUCKY not to have picked Pedro and picked Randy Johnson. It was supposed to be a good thing- safe bet to, Randy Johnson- multiple Cy Young winner, won 20+ games last year. Well... the D-backs pitching staff scored me a -18. A negative freaking 18.

O.K., that's all I have to say. I'm just speechless. I am without speech

Man... -18.

Shhhhh - Do you hear that sound ? That is the sound of the Rookie slowly making his way up the ranks. Damn I can't believe I get high points in a day and it turns out to be a weekend where I can't even crow. Hell this might never occur again so I will crow anyway - ha. Although I understand the reality is that my team did not play that well, I was just able to take advantage of the rain and poor pitches of others - but I don't really care - . I still haven't gotten out of the 40's either higher nor lower . My team is that of remarkable fluid consistency - not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

So do some of you people not sleep? Baseball conversations at 4:00am est -ha. It must have been a late night for a few of you or maybe an early morning, I can only imagine.

Enjoy the weekend all.

Looks like the Boston - Baltimore afternoon game was cancelled... I am not saying a word about how lucky I was to pick another pitching staff. -18, still speechless.

O.K., that's enough of my whining.

And oh yea, LDV- Don't think that I didn't catch you going ahead of me. JG and BDD was telling me some great things about the view from behind, so I thought I might give it a try.

Sonuvabitch! I was counting on them (Garciaparra and Ramirez) to do some serious damage today. That night game better be played!!
