Except for Phil Jackson's missing 5 points from yesterday, everything seems to be running smoothly now.

There are a couple of players who have incomplete rosters going tonight. Since the rules state that you get no points unless you have a complete team, I'm thinking that they will have zeros for today. On the other hand, if they didn't pick a player for a position, I'm wondering why their roster didn't automatically keep whoever they had yesterday

See ya in the morning with standings.

CC, PL, and SP owed 5 points for coaching wins

Most of our rosters are pretty much the same today. That's because, I believe (if I'm not mistaken) that in making selections for today, you could have taken the top rated player at each position and still come in under the cap.

And please, guys: Fill each position every day with someone who's playing that day. Coach included.

I have a feeling that some of you who are new to this type of game may still have questions. Please do not hesitate to ask.

EDIT: Scores corrected to reflect winning coaches pointsm which have now been credited.

So the top 3 are owed 5 points. That does nothing to change the scope of the game.

Hey, PL, what happened to your New Joisey Nets last night? They cost me 5 points. Doesn't your deal with the devil carry on until this season?

It's been so long since I made my deal with the devil, that I forgot what the terms were.

I don't remember what I had to do--lose the second half of Fantasy Baseball, maybe?--in exchange for either
a) The Nets winning the NBA Championship, or
b) The Nets resigning Jason Kidd

"b" happened, "a" didn't. But in any case, the deal had nothing to do with this season. Sorry.

And yeah, my Nets stunk last night. Blew a 13 point third quarter lead.

They need to fix that with the next point update. It's no fun when we all have the same team.

Two things happened to me on yesterdays roster. Not to mention that you could not get in or on the website to see or change your team for some time. First I picked Jamel Mashburn who wasn't listed as hurt when I selected him, them once things were locked I have him shown as hurt so he did not play. Could happen to anyone I guess. The one that got to me was when I went to change my coach as he was not playing and then they wouldn't let me select another one no matter how I moved. I finally just let it go so now I am down two players for the day.
Could it be their system? I would sure place a bet on it as the first two days have not been what we are use to with the baseball system, which for the most part ran smooth after everything was in place.

By the way did any other coaches with a win get points the last two nights?

I got my points on Tuesday, but not last night

If you read the "General Message Board" for this site, you'll find that we, obviously, are not the only ones experiencing these problems.

I got five points for picking a winning coach the first night. I believe some others are running into the "Phil Jackson" problem.

I just noticed... I already have 58 points for today, because they counted the points from the game in Japan that finished a few hours ago for today. Some others who picked Elton Brand already have 38 points.

Cool - I already passed Day 1's total

Question: I picked Coach Gregg Popovich (SA) the first two nights, and why's it show up as he "didn't play"??? I should've gotten 5 pts for the first day win. Is he not coaching or what?

Yep, the Clippers and the Sonics are playing some games out in Japan as part of the NBA globalization, I guess.

Pork, hopefully they fix this coaching win problem soon. I need to know how many points I should score to just barely beat out Crab Cake! :p

You had me worried. I thought it was some extra charity function or something they were doing that was extra. But I guess if they were in Japan they would be hard pressed to get back to their hometown by tonight, huh? See, I'm not all blonde!

Tony -

On your main clubhouse page it'll say "Roster for Fri, Oct. 31" over your current roster. If there's no opponent listed under "NEXT" then that person isn't playing. Just make sure everyone has an opponent.

Hey - Why am I telling you this? Now it'll be tougher to pass you!

P.S.
"Every roster slot must be filled to have a valid team." -- that's not entirely accurate. You don't need a full roster to accumulate points. This allows you to keep a player who isn't playing to save his original salary for when salaries rise (or fall) Sunday night/Monday morning...

Nope. "Roster locks each day at 11:59 pm PT" (3am ET)

Do you even have a roster for tonight? I don't see one.

Just try to get into the habit of doing your roster early, like when you wake up, or during lunch, so you don't forget...

This morning at about 3:00 AM, all of the scores were complete, and, presumably, correct. I didn't post them, though, because I was on my , uh, er, ah, "break"

So this morning, they're all screwed up again. Only the LA-Seattle game is reflected in the scores and standings.

I'm leaving for work now. Hopefully, this problem will be fixed by the time I get there.

As mentioned before Crabcake, with basketball there are only 7-10 games per night, as opposed to baseball, which has 16 almost every day. That means fewer players to choose from.

At this point, early in the season, the cap values for the players are much lower than they will be in the weeks to come. That's why everyone is able to load up on the same 3 or 4 top guys at each position every day.

Once Tim Duncan, and Tracy McGrady and Kevin Garnett, etc. have their values go up to lets say 26, 28, or 30 each, it will be impossible to have them all on the same day and still have decent players on the rest of your roster. But while the values of the top players are so low, you can take them all on a given night, and still have plenty of cap room left.
