After the grueling baseball season, I don't know how many of you guys are gonna want to try this...

Same format as baseball: pick a new team every day, get points for what the guys do (points, rebounds, assists, etc), stay under the cap

I know we have some new blood out there...Don Corpuzzi, Bad Guy Tony...let's go guys.

http://games.espn.go.com/vgm/frontpage

Here's the link. You have to register with ESPN first, no charge. I set up a league already, "Gangster BB". The password is "Corleone"

Any questions, feel free to ask

Seeing that I stink at fantasy football, I'm in plaw!

Even if we lose this game, remember, nothing can ever take our fantasy baseball championships away from us.

Great!

Just make sure you're not one of those guys that JG hates that drops out in the middle of the season

Hollywood Hagen, Joltin' Joe, BigTony something or other, and Olefecio Anderessi or whatever (I'm too lazy to look up the correct spelling)

I wasn't thinking of you. You didn't drop out. You were playing all along. We just didn't know it. Still can't figure out how you did that, BTW

So you gonna play basketball with us? You don't have to know anything...just pick a guy for each position, and stay under the cap.

I was just kidding with ya! :p Maybe if you stop calling me crab cake I'll tell you how I got back in the game.

Sorry! My knowledge of baskeball is about the same as nuclear physics.

That's for sure. Look at Bad Daddy in baseball. He finished in the top 5 in baseball in both halves and he knows nothing about the game! :p

You know Plaw... this is the type of post that we'll look back later on and cringe.

I'm in. But don't expect me to be much competition. I'm not much of a b-ball fan. I did play this game last year, but, it was with the weekly roster changes so I hardly touched it.

I hope I don't quit halfway thru to piss myself off!

Last year I was 70th/77th percentile for the two halves. Not bad with WEEKLY roster changes (you couldn't replace someone who wasn't playing on any particular day, or got hurt). (VGM Postseason I was 95th.)

Good timing - the game starts tomorrow.

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

Weekly is no fun. Not enough action every day. That's what I don't like about the Fantasy Football Game (OK, the fact that I'm crap at it contributes to my dislike...).

I really do miss the comraderie and repartee of the daily game. Doesn't it warm your heart when you sign in and navigate the site, and it all looks so familiar?

Yes it does. Just like indigestion.

You should have named this thread a little differently plaw. Every time I see it I think it's fantasy baseball, and I get homesick.

I'm in too. I don't know how committed I will be though because I'm a full-time college student and all, but I keep up with what's going on.

If the Fantasy Baseball is any guide, you can spend as little or as much time picking your team as you want. The key is to have at least 5-10 minutes a day at the computer just to make sure that all the guys on your team are all playing that day, and replacing any that aren't.

There are "salary cap" considerations, though. When you put a guy on your team, you have him forever at whatever "price" you paid for him. If you replace him, and then want him back later, his price may have gone up, and you can only get him back at the new, higher price.

Hey, how do I find "GangsterBB"? I'm looking around and I see a ton of groups, if I'm on the right page.

Joseph... I don't know what you should put. It's been a while since I registered. Maybe you should put a legit U.S. address?

BGT... Search for "Gangster BB" (note space in between) in the search box.

I logged out, and am looking at the regitration form. It seems fairly straight-forward, but somewhat confusing where the address is involved for Canadian and International addresses.

Do any of these apply to you?

From the rules...

Quote:

OPEN ONLY TO RESIDENTS OF THE U.S. (AND THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA), CANADA (EXCEPT QUEBEC), JAPAN, MEXICO, TAIWAN, GERMANY, AND CHINA 13 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER AS OF THE DATE OF ENTRY. VOID IN ALL U.S. TERRITORIES (e.g., GUAM AND PUERTO RICO) AND WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.
(That's actually stupid - I can see those locations being valid or not to win prizes, but anyone should be able to play - WTF?)

Shit, make something up if you need to...? Just don't hold me responsible

I got my squad ready. Do we have to wait till the season starts or can we start right away with preseason? I got my team on there.

Are you sure JG? The games that we have to pick from are for the first day games on October 28th. If it's anything like baseball, the picks shouldn't lock until 3 AM Eastern on October 28.

Hopefully, we could get more people on there before the season starts so we don't have people whining that they started 10 days late!

I think the Don's brain is going soft from thinking about playing dress-up.

According to the front page, the season starts October 28th.

Plenty of time to get some new recruits. I'm especially looking for Big Daddy and Don Corpuzzi.

On the right side of the screen, there is a link to "Group Directory". I forget, but I think there's also another link that says "Create or Join Group" or something to that effect. When you are on the Group Directory page, there is a "Search by Name" option. This is where you input "Gangster BB".

Joseph- I don't know if you've finished registering, but through your registration, you should have set your member name and password. After getting those, you can log in through the link Plaw provided, and once you've logged in, you can go to the group directory.

I hope this helps!

Oh, and don't let me forget to invite FS-- He can learn the fundamentals along with the rest of us. And no doubleheaders for him to worry about :p

And, of course, LDV. I heard she'll play anything with the word "Fantasy" in it.
