This season sure has gone by fast. I was just curious what are your predictions for the playoffs? Who is going to come out of each division of each league and who will make the two wild card spots? Also who do you think will triumph over the others in each league to make it to the world series and why do you pick these teams?

Here are my opinions for the playoffs, I’ll start with the American League I say in the West it will be Oakland because Miguel Tejada has really turning it up a notch and the As have been playing much better baseball, but don’t count out the Mariners ever though they usually chock come playoff time.

As for the AL central, I’d say it’s still in the air, but I think that the sox will pull through to the playoffs with maggs hitting for an average now after a slow start and Frank Thomas on a hitting frenzy. Estaban Loiza is having a Cy Young caliber year as well.

In the Al East, I’d say it’s going to be the Yanks easily. Boston has an impressive all around team, but for whatever reason they cannot pass the Yanks. Bill Mueller is having a solid year for Boston as is most of there players up and down their line up. I think perhaps the lack of good chemistry and team spirit maybe the ailment of Boston.

As for the wild card race in the AL, it’s going to be down to the wire, between Boston and the Mariners. I’m not sure which will make it but I do not see them getting past the leaders in their divisions.

Onto the NL, I feel that in the West the race is over. The Giants have beaten up on their division including the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Giants are also the NL pennant Defending champs. With Barry Bonds in the line up this team can be a team to recon with and sooner or later he will make you pay if you pitch to him, and you cannot dodge him forever. Watch out Braves!

The NL central is still up in the air and like the Nl wild card, no one seems to want to win. Whenever a team gets on a roll they fall back every time. I was thinking the Astros would win it, but your guess is as good as mine at this point.

NL East is easy, the Braves have it all the way. The Braves have massive hitting but their pitching is average at best with their ace as Russ Ortiz who gets over 5 runs support on average in each game it’s hard to see why he doesn’t have more than 18 wins.

The NL wild card is madness; there is no telling who will win this race, because just last week it was a five way tie. Arizona is fading and now looking up at the Dodgers, but I’d say it will be between the Marlins and the Phillies ultimately.

AL East- NY Yankees
Al Central- Chicago White Sox
AL West- Oakland A’s
AL Wild Card- Seattle Mariners

NL East- Atlanta Braves
NL Central- Houston Astros
NL West- San Francisco Giants
NL Wild Card- Florida Marlins
