With all the recent controversy surrounding the game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas I found myself wanting to play the game again, as I never beat it. (that is an understatement I never got anywhere in it) Well so I went through the trouble of tracking my copy down, I had lent it out, and when I finally got some free time I put it in my PS2. Disk read error. I tried again and again with only the same result, disk read motherfucking error. So Justabitch and me took it apart and manually cleaned the lens and dust that had collected in it and I tried again. It worked…for a time, it acts like it can’t get the information off the disk fast enough, it is fine in the beginning but after only a few min. it starts to lose textures and eventually crashes. It won’t even work long enough for me to complete a mission. So my PS2 is broken, I could send it in but that would cost like 80 bucks and I really only want to play this one game on it, I mean yes I have several others but I haven’t touched the PS2 since GTA:SA came out – I’m an Xbox person now I suppose. Anyway since I am unwilling to pay to get it fixed, and it is broken for all extensive purposes I have decided to destroy it. Granted this is probably some pent up frustration on my part as well, this is my third PS2 since they came out. The store replaced the first one because I had an insurance policy; Sony replaced all of the inner workings of that one because it failed in a astonishing 86 days and now this. I have decided to let you all in on my quest for justice and let you help me select the method of execution for the PS2.Being that I am such an outstanding American I have decided to do this the democratic way. Only unlike American elections your votes (the people) will actually count. I will leave this poll open to I feel that I have gotten enough votes and then I will execute the PS2 in the fashion that you have selected. I have a friend with a video camera so I will try to tape it and host the file somewhere on the net and give you guys a link to it so that you may see the fruits of your democratic muscle.
As indicated you might want to clarify what you voted for by also posting in this thread. So if you chose bludgeoning then you might say what kind of interment you have in mind, I myself am thinking sledgehammer, though I guess I could see myself going Office Space style on it with a bat. I also left one so you cold make your own suggestions and if you choose that then you must post down here so I know your suggestion. If you agree with someone else’s suggestion just chose “write in your own suggestion” and post down here that you agree with so and so.
I guess that is it, happy voting.

Same shit happened to me, only it happened to me when I put in cheats and tried saving. Later the game was unable to load, so I had to start from stratch. Now I'm a little ways into the game but I've lost interest. Truthfully, I think the game's OK, but there's nothing too impressive about it (in my opinion). I would still have to say, best GTA game would have to be Vice City, III comes in a close second though.

You do know that the disc read error is a pretty common problem for the PS2, right? And that Sony fixes them/replaces them for free? I'd try calling them on the phone before destroying it. But don't hate on the PS2, it's my favorite console, and the reason I'm getting a PS3, which will be the greatest console of all time!

Microwave it. There is no doubt in my mind that you should do this. Make sure there's a CD in the drive when you do it too.

Suspect, a tip from me: Buy a Gamecube! You won't regret it. For 120 dollars you've got one, including the magnificent Resident Evil 4. And it's 3 times smaller than the xbox (really, not kidding).
Everyone thinks PS2 is the best, also because it sells so good, but that's because everyone who own's one, has to buy a second and maybe a third when they break.

Uhm, it's Nintendo Revolution, and besides NES and SNES, you can also download N64 games (for a few dollars, between 2 and 5), and play GameCube games (so backwards compatible)

I know Sony has online gaming but it is not as integrated or widely used as it is on the Xbox. Nintendo's online strategy...please you have got to be kidding. Nintendo will have free and easy to access online gaming with the Revolution and the DS. They didn't supported online on Gamecube (yeah, for 3 games  ) because they couldn't make it free and easy for everyone. The Revolution and the PS3 will both go online with Wi-fi, whatever that is, but some big dudes in the business say it is the future of online gaming. Any idea when it's suppose to come out and how much? Revolution and PS3 will both launch in 2006. Probably in Japan in mid-2006, and USA / EU at the end of 2006, which means the XBOX is a year ahead in the USA and Europe. That can be good (PS2 came first and is winning), but it also could be bad (Dreamcast came first, and died very soon). Revolution will be cheaper than than the X360 and the PS3 because Nintendo want's it to be a gaming machine only, and doesn't include multimediacenter and HD-TV-support. Leaving that out will make it a lot cheaper and less big and heavy.

Strong 3rd party support had a lot to do with PS2's dominance, that and brand name. I mean they already had like 70million PSs out there it was an established brand name, Xbox was the new kid on the block- an untested name as far as console gaming goes. The Dreamcast well I don't know what the hell happened, I mean it has some to the best games on it but it still failed, I'll tell you one thing I still have my Dreamcast and I only have like 5 games for it, but I'm blowing up my PS2.

Dreamcast failed because Sega didn't know how to market it. It astounds me, because the Genesis kicked the sh*t out of the Super Nintendo back in that era of the hardware wars. They obviously did something right.
I believe Nintendo will continue to succeed because:
1) They have the best first party games of any system out there, and that cannot be disputed.
2) Their niche fanbase is incredibly strong. Sure, they cater to a younger age demographic then the other two systems, but they knocked my socks off (as well as many other people's socks) with Resident Evil 4.
3) The Gameboy (and all it's iterations), not the PS2 or Xbox, has lead the console wars for the past 15+ years. Sure, Gameboy is not a home console, but I truly believe it's the Gameboy that is keeping Nintendo in the big picture more than anything else. As long as the Gameboy (and the new DS) continue to succeed, Nintendo will always be a force to be reckoned with.

So the Revolution isn't going to be able to play DVDs either!? F*ck me! Not so fast. Revolution will be able to play DVD's, Revolution discs (the size of a DVD) and Gamecube discs (which are a little bit smaller than DVD's) And free online play is also included. Two things Nintendo missed in this generation...
