EA Resurrects Brando for The Godfather
James Caan and Robert Duvall are on-board, too.

By David Adams

February 1, 2005 - Actors James Caan, Robert Duvall -- and yes, the big daddy himself, Marlon Brando -- have added their voices and likenesses to Electronic Arts' The Godfather, according to a Hollywood Reporter story today.

Caan returns as Sonny Corleone and Duvall as consigliere Tom Hagen. Brando, it turns out, had agreed to EA using his likeness, and recorded voice-overs for the game, prior to his death last July. At least on gaming consoles, Don Vito Corleone will live again.

EA has also secured rights to Nino Rota's Grammy-winning score, according to the report.

EA's project is generating buzz not just for its formidible film license but as the company's first entry into mature-themed gaming. The title will feature free-roaming gameplay similar to Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto series. Players become members of the Corleone family, and must take on jobs to rise up the ranks of criminal power.

Be sure to check back for more on the title as news comes in.
