IGN.com - PlayStation 2 EA Resurrects Brando for The Godfather
James Caan and Robert Duvall are on-board, too.By David Adams February 1, 2005 - Actors James Caan, Robert Duvall -- and yes, the big daddy himself, Marlon Brando -- have added their voices and likenesses to Electronic Arts' The Godfather, according to a Hollywood Reporter story today.
Caan returns as Sonny Corleone and Duvall as consigliere Tom Hagen. Brando, it turns out, had agreed to EA using his likeness, and recorded voice-overs for the game, prior to his death last July. At least on gaming consoles, Don Vito Corleone will live again.
EA has also secured rights to Nino Rota's Grammy-winning score, according to the report.
EA's project is generating buzz not just for its formidible film license but as the company's first entry into mature-themed gaming. The title will feature free-roaming gameplay similar to Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto series. Players become members of the Corleone family, and must take on jobs to rise up the ranks of criminal power.
