Well the Emmys are on tonight and The Sopranos is up for best tv drama, as well as Gandolfini and Falco for best actor/actress and Joe Pantaliano as best supporting actor. I just heard that the show has yet to win best drama series. What a shock. I thought it had already won in the past.

For all you "right" coast people, who may already have seen the show, please remember us "left coasters" haven't seen it yet. I sure hope it wins best series. I'll have to miss the first hour of it tho, in order to see the Sopranos on HBO.

SC,

Just put it on my tab!!! :p I am watching now flipping back and forth between The Sopranos and The Emmys. I am really hoping Pantaliano wins for supporting. I think that's coming up soon.

Just been on the lunchtime news with some brief highlights!

Don't know which awards were won, though I know which one was NOT won, but congratulations to all those involved who have a nice wee trophy!

Joey Pants (Ralphie) won for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama; Edie Falco (Carmella) won Best Actress; and James Gandolfini (Tony) won Best Actor.

The show DIDN'T win as Best Drama....that honor went to "The West Wing".

I'm glad Gandolfini/Pantaliano & Falco won (even though I already knew they would ), but damn, it should have won best drama as well. Has Gandolfini ever won best actor for Sopranos before? He deserves it.

I was just reading the article of the Emmys in today's paper, and it said that no HBO series has ever won an emmy for best Drama/Comedy. That's surprising to me. It went on to say that even tho West Wing (the winner for drama) had been decreasing in quality the past year or so, that the voters tend to go with the regular broadcast stations. Does this seem fair??

Can I post the winners now?

I am absolutely thrilled about Gandolfini's achievement. He's a fantastic actor with such tremendous energy on screen. It seems odd that he is so shy off-screen, and yet gives such awe-inspiring performances week-in, week-out.

Congrats to Edie Falco, too, who had no competition whatsoever.

Joe Pantoliano's award was a pleasant surprise--excellent; I'm pleased that such a great role was rewarded justly.

Oh, and we mustn't forget the award for best writing. Well done, Chase and co.!

Did Lorraine Bracco get nominated for Best Supporting Actress in The Sopranos?

APF,

No, Bracco didn't receive an emmy. I don't think she was nominated was she? I believe it was Tyne Daly who won for Judging Amy.

Oh, and Capo, you can post whatever you like now. The winners have already been announced, so feel free to contribute my friend.

You know what? THEY (the critics) said that the dude from 6 Feet would take the Emmy from Jimmy- BUT I knew!lol. There was NO way they coulda given it to anybody else but James Gandolfini. I was sooo happy about the fact that both Edie and James won and then, did everyone see Joe Pantoliano's winning speech?? awww...so sweet. I was hoping Sopranos would take it home for Best Drama but I dunno...you know what was interesting?? I saw the backstage thing where James G. was being asked questions by the reporters, and they asked him why he thought the Emmy council overlooks the Sopranos as far as best drama, and he said that it was most definitely "the content". More specifically the fact that West Wing is about the good guys and The sopranos is well...you know. I'll take The Sopranos over West Wing ANYday.

The damned emmys are getting to damned predictable.

I certainly hope noone here was surprised by both James, and Edies wins last night, cause I sure wasn't.

Hell even Joes win didn't surprise me, neither did the emmy for best writing for that matter.

And the Sopranos losing best drama yet again, didn't surprise me in the least.

Don't get me wrong on some of my above words. Both James, & Edie deseve the emmys, and Joe does as well, plus the show derserves the emmy for best writing.

On a side note Michael Chicklis also deserved the emmy for his role as Vic Mackey on the Shield.

Chiklis won it last year, and rightly so, but Gandolfini in season four was unbeatable.

The West Wing is a fantastic show, I know, but I don't watch it these days. IT's got a sizling script, is realistic, good viewing, and great acting, but IMO The Sopranos competes with and surpasses all of those.
