I know what you mean Capo, Pine Barrens has to be the best episode so far from any season. Others may have more character stuff but would not be nearly as good on their own. I think it should have got a theatrical release - it is sooo entertaining and confirms paulie as one of the finest comic creations of our time. I can't fault any of season three at all. Four is another kettle of fish but the worst one HAS to be the episode where Tony and that pranking woman bumble around for an episode and FUCK-ALL HAPPENS!

P.S. Not so keen on your season 2 bashing Capo, it introduced Janice (who, i think, was never as good in subsequent seasons) and the Pussy-as-gman stuff was hilarious. Not to mention it being the swansong of Livia, Junior under house-arrest and Carmela's almost-fling. AND Robert Patrick!
