Juss a small thought...now...I was reading Omerta, got into a few chapters and I noticed that during the timeperiod in the book, Mario Puzo wrote how the Corleone Family was into drugs + the whole thing with the FBI stings and what not.

Now...if Omerta: The Motion Picture, comes out...that's how you end the Corleone saga, in a small subtle way...I dunno, maybe they could show some shots of other Dons getting captured and who knows, Vincent could be one of them...

Like I wrote, just a small thought, whaddaya guys think?

I'd rather see the family end by Vincent being killed or in someway taken out by a rival family, maybe because he made a mistake that Mike or Vito would have never made. But to see the family end because of an FBI sting would be very disappointing.
Could your idea work, I think it's possible- it's not a bad idea, just not what I would want to see.

Not a bad idea. I'm all for an Omerta film. I really enjoyed the book. The Corleone saga could be finished with some short well written dialogue.

"The Corleones are finished. They should never have let that hothead Mancini take over."

"They were slipping well before that."

OK, I'm not a script writer, that was crap. But you get the jist.

But sorry to burst your bubble. The Corleones in Omerta are actually referring to the real life Corloeonesi clan in Sicily and have nothing to do with the fictional Corleones created by Puzo. I don't see why it can't be changed though.

I think the 'Corleone Saga' ended in a not so very subtle way when the sick, elderly Michael was seen alone and dropping dead.

Vincent was merely a fabricated, bastard nephew and therefore in my opinion not worthy of consideration as a real Don. So any further story containing his character would be irrelevant to the original Godfather legend.

So in short...who cares what fate is eventually in store for him?

Apple, I don't necessarily agree with your chracterization of Vincent or the Corleone family under his leadership. But, consider that the Bonanno Family under Joe Bonanno's successors has been in serious decline for the past two decades. Even so, it is still quite a potent force in the underworld. So, the write off the Corleones in any script would be, at least, premature

No it wouldn't.

To try & continue with the Corleones in any script would be, at least, overkill. Destroying the magic. Altering the legend.

Not leaving a classic alone.

Etc...

How about this...Mary runs off with Vincent after all, but they change their names and they live in a trailer park. Later their daughter inherits Tony's singing voice and she goes on American Idol and wins a lot of fame and fortune, and the Corleones are finally legitimate and everyone lives happily ever after (except Michael dies alone). Sound stupid? It is. So are all ideas for GF IV

I'd have to agree. There are some great things which should be left alone; not added to. From the words of the Beatles, "Let it be".

I've always said, if there is a good story to tell, tell it. TGR tried to tell a good story, but failed. Did that book somehow tarnish the legacy of the Godfather films and book? Not in a million years. Last time I checked the movie was still #1 over at IMDb and at least in the top 5 for most critics around the country.

*Shrugs* I guess the majority here object to the idea, but more of the idea of a GFIV. Ahh well.

The Death of Michael Corleone it is!

How about doing it like Lucas did Star Wars...we could go all the way back to the 1700's in Sicily, and do a trilogy leading up to whatever the story was which led to the killing of Vito Andolini's father.

So about Antonio Andolini, and the father's of Clemenza, Tessio, and Abbandando. And about very young Vito, Pietro, Salvatore, Tomassino, and Genco. And about Don Ciccio.

One problem: everything should be spoken in Sicilian, and that would be hard to understand for the average non-Italian.

I'd watch it, for sure, but I think that not many people would thus making little money.

Also, if Darth Vader was the reason for two trilogies then Vito Corleone is the reason to make another trilogy and we've essentially seen all of the major events in his life, both young and old.

That's true, I never thought of things that way but I do agree. I'd be interesting, but I still say, they would need the right actors. Don't want a remake of The Godfather to be a hackjob.

How is that crap? It's concise, and leaves the viewer's appetite whetted (thinking: how were they "finished"?). It's always better when these things are left to the imagination. Also, the reference to "hothead" Mancini is a neat tribute to Clemenza's line re Sonny in 1.

An idea such as this would only be best used as a sly reference\homage in another persons' crime movie, who would probably be a fan of the GF movies.

Yeah that is brilliant idea. Because people wanted star wars to be left alone and now it is brilliant

The GF should always be about the Maffia. And that organisation didn't exist until 1860. So nothing "go back to 1700."
