I suppose we'd never know where "indoor" shots were filmed. But If they are filming there only for indoor shots, why bother going that far to film? Hey Deathkiss I have many relatives in your area (Royal Oak, Warren, Sterling Heights). Say hi to them for me when you see them will you?? Btw, it it snowing there yet?? TIS

I was trying to estimate how much of the GF Trilogy was "on location." I think Sicily is more significant than NYC because lots of NYC scenes are indoors, while Sicily scenes are often outdoors. Overall, I would guess that about 20% of the trilogy was "on location" - the rest could have been a studio anywhere.
GF - All the Sicily scenes had to be there. But much of the "New York" stuff was indoors. Sonny beating Carlo was outside. So was the Paulie hit. But the Mall scenes (outside or inside) could have been anywhere. Much of the film could have been anywhere.
GF2 - All the Deniro flashback stuff had to be in NYC. The outside party had to be Tahoe. But the rest could have been anywhere under some constraints (i.e. Cuba was really Dominican Republic).
GF3 - Again, Sicily scenes had to be there. A few scenes were outside in NY .. i.e. Vincent's hit on zasa, Vincent and Mary in front of Genco. Otherwise, NY scenes were mostly indoors.
As a New Yorker, I'm not arguing that it shouldn't be here. But I am trying to "think how others would think".

just because they are shooting in austrailia doesn't mean the film will be set there. Attack of the clones was filmed in austrailia it wasn't set there was it? lord of the rings was in new zealand but wasn't set there. the opening battle in gladiator was filmed in london but it wasn't set there was it?!

Finally! Someone who shares my sentiments. I live in Australia too, and while I think the Americans are understimating the way the city of Melbourne looks, it's probably best if the film is kept in the New York/Sicily areas for the authenticity.

Welcome in Rukas Exactly Chi Chi! It is for authenticity and nothing else that it should be in Sicily and New York. True, inside scenes could probably shot anywhere (for that matter maybe some outside scenes as well). However, like I said before, if your making a movie about the Sicilian mafia....go to Sicily. Btw Welcome to the Board Rukas ...and truly nothing against Australia. We here are all GF fans and do pay attention to detail such as where GFIV may be filmed. What can I say, we are all addicted. Exactly, I also want to echo Italian's viewpoint. We do pay attention to detail. Sometimes, I think we pay too much attention to detail to a point that it alters FFC motives in the storyline. Therefore, its makes it very hard for us to accept glaring errors. I.e, the Corleone Family: a NYC crime family film location in Aust. The Godfather is a NYC story, not a Austrilian story. No disrespect and i just telling you how I feel, but I am getting sick of forgein countries taking over USA based movie frantises because they cut corners to save money, employ directors that know very little the film. And the sequels are not very good.

Australia was just mentioned as some locations, so how could it be responsible for employing a director that knows very little about the film or cutting corners? Its just a location, not an Australian production. I dont understand where you are coming from at all. Thanks for the welcoming even if my post was a little negative towards some of you hehe Ohh... as for Sicily, a lot of Australia's country side is very similar, i dont think you guys would be able to tell the difference on film. I am thinking though that prehaps Queensland will be used for some Miami scenes as it is also very similar. Regardless, the news post said SOME locations, not ALL. So relax a little Hell for all you know, the story could involve someone actually coming to Australia much like Michael went to Cuba...

Hi, my name is Leigh Di Pietro [Leigh = mothers' influence]. I am happy to say I stumbled upon this site while searching for Mario Puzo Information. I was reading the posts and 'AUSTRALIA' caught my attention. This was the fist I'd heard of a number of things, those being, Godfather Part 4 - is this mere speculation or is that where I've come in to the discussion?, the filming of it in Australia. I kept reading, one post that crept from the screen, snuck up behind me and slipped the garotte slowly and silently over my neck, until . . .sorry, excuse me. 'Oh My God! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooo!!!!! This is the worse thing that can possible happen. THE GODFATHER DOWN UNDER!' Considering that I am a new user, I have respect for the obvious regulars of this bulletin board, and therefore will keep my thoughts and comments to myslef, for now. But please in the future, be [trying not to sound like Yoda] mindful of those who lurk in the background. As of today I will be a regular member of this bulletin board, please treat with caution what it is, that you do not know. Besides I'm still getting used to this whole technology stuff. On a more somber note, my comiserations go out to any of those reading whose lives, or the lives of loved ones were adversely affected by the events of 9/11. Sincerley, L. S. Di Pietro

This is waaaay off topic, but The Australian Cattle Dog is the greatest dog, pound for pound, in the world. I had one, and hope to get another in the near future. I agree wholeheartedly with Plawrence...the great thing about this board is diversity . Help and challenge us to remain so.

Sir, I apologize for any undue distress I might have caused you because of the posting of your photos. I was not aware that I was using your bandwidth, nor was I aware that I was breaking any copyright laws. I am not gaining any monetary gain from this post and since I don't have a scanner nor a digital camera, my sole purpose was to make some folks aware of this fine canine breed. I owned and trained my own ACD during the time that it was just entered into the Misc. Category of the AKC. People in NYC would stop me to ask "What mixture is that mutt?". I did not mean to imply that I trained the dogs. I'll delete the post when you've seen this message. I hope you find and similarly lambaste and reprimand those other posters who have less noble reasons to use your photos than mine. BTW, I admire your site very much.

I live in Australia and, while i belive Queensland looks alot like Miami, The Countryside doesn't look like Sicily, Australian country tends to be either flat and grassy or hilly woodland/forest, with very few mountains past the dividing range, which tends to be dense forest, where as sicily tends to be hilly, flant grassland with rocky mountains.
I hate people who are against vengance, they say that killing them won't make the lost come back, the way i see it, if you let them get away with that, they'll do it again and again until you are destroyed.
