John Gotti's grandparents were Neapolitan immigrants.
John Gotti's wife, Victoria, supposedly had a Jewish father and Italian mother. Therefore, Junior Gotti is three-quarters Italian.
According to Joe (Donnie Brasco) Pistone, in his book, "The Way of the Wiseguy," the "rule" in the Mafia now is that you can be made if your father is Italian--presumably your mother can be anything else. It sounds convincing. But I tend to be skeptical for two reasons. First, Mafia "rules" (if they're really "rules," rather than figments of journalists' imaginations) are seldom applied uniformly, if at all. Second, I can't imagine that, since exposing his Bonanno pals, Pistone gets regular calls from his former Mafia associates informing him of the latest regulations and protocols.
