They dressed as Treasury agents, entered his office in NYC's Grand Central building, flashed badges, and demanded to see his books. They shot and stabbed him to death as he complied. As they fled down the stairs, Coll was in the lobby, waiting for an elevator to take him to Maranzano's office for his final instructions before whacking Luciano. That's how close it was--and that's one of the reasons they called him "Lucky." )
