The most-often-mentioned NJ Mafia family is the DeCavalcante Family, named after Sam (the Plumber) DeCavalcante, so-called because his legit cover was a plumbing business in Kenilworth, NJ. After he was convicted of racketeering, he retired to Florida and turned the reins over to John Riggi, who's now in jail. The current head of the DeCavalcante Family is said to be John "Jackie Nose" D'Amico, a big pal of John Gotti. Labor rackets are the family's specialty. However, a big faction grew up around the Atlantic City casinos in the late Seventies and early Eighties, under Nicodemo (Little Nicky) Scarfo. AC used to be under the thumb of Angelo Bruno, the boss of Philadelphia, but he was murdered, and Little Nicky rode high until the feds sent him away forever. Hard to say who's in charge in AC now. Hope this helps.
