NJ Mafia is closely aligned with NY families--notably Genovese now. At one time, NJ Mob was run out of Philadelphia. However, in the heyday of Nicodemo (Little Nicky) Scarfo, they operated strongly in Atlantic City, where Nicky made a home of sorts. That's by the boards now that the Scarfo mob has been mostly smashed. The most durable NJ Mob family is DeCavalcante, named after Sam "The Plumber," who figured prominently in the Commission's effort to oust Joe Bonanno in the '60s. Today the DeCavalcante family is said to be run by John "Jackie Nose" D'Amico, who has close ties with the Gambino family.
