Hey Pherdy, Now you have to post a picture of the "original" Eliot Ness! The one that us old timers would know???? Little trivia for you. TIS

That's him SC!!! I hear Eliot Ness, and only he comes to mind, even still. But tell me, did me, did you ever see Eliot Ness smile in The Untouchable series?? Must be a publicity shot hu?? I would love to see reruns of that show. Porbably wouldn't be the same, but it would be very nostalgic for me. TIS All right! Without cheating, which of you young ones can tell me who that is? His name has been posted before.

Nope.....I think if he TRIED to smile (in the show) his face would've cracked. The star (whose name I won't mention) played Ness in a VERY serious manner. Looking back, that show really had a wonderful cast. Even though all the characters didn't appear in every episode, consider those "semi-regulars" in the cast: Bruce Gordon as Frank Nitti Neville Brand as Al Capone Nehemiah Persoff as Jake Guzik All three are/were wonderful character actors who were somewhat stereotyped into the gangster roles (ie. they were tough looking guys). Persoff, of late, changed his "image" and now appears as the voice of the father mouse in the "American Tail" series of animated movies. Lets not forget the narrator in the show - Walter Winchell. For those too young to remember, Winchell was a famous newspaper columnist who befriended J. Edgar Hoover, then the Director of the F.B.I. It was Winchell (and Hoover) to whom "Lepke" Buchalter surrendered after Lucky Luciano and company suggested it would be in his best interests to do so. Winchell played his role in that surrender to the hilt (although he didn't do much) and was always reminding everyone of his importance. What a dickhead.

I heard that either NBC or ABC, one of those networks is having a weekly tv series about al capone and the battles he has with Elliot Ness. You can find more info at http://www.cinescape.com. I like the Untouchables and it was a great movie with the acting and production value was great. I thought it was a well-done film and Sean Connery is good, as well as Andy Garcia. Robert DeNiro is the best actor to portray Al Capone that I have seen. They recently show this movie quite a lot on AMC and other cable movie channels at night or during the day. I recommend that everyone see this film, if they haven't.

The movie's best scene occurs when Costner & Garcia shoot it out with gangsters while a baby is falling down a staircase in its stroller. That part was awesome! The part that I liked the most was the part where Costner enters the hotel where Al Capone was staying and sees Al Capone going down stairs. That whole part was amazing for me:)

I thought this movie was decent, although not as good as many other "mafia" related movies I have seen. I would give it 7/10
