I agree, my brother absolutely loves that movie, but I wouldn't score it higher than 7. I liked it and everything, but it's definately not a master piece in my opinion, considering the only reason I watched it was because Andy Garcia was in it.

I'm Glad that you guys finally saw The Untouchables. I agree it's not the greatest movie of all time. But it's high on my list of gangster flicks.

I liked this movie, despite Kevin Costner.
Is it just me or does he act exactly the same in all of his movies with one tiny exception - sometimes he has that fake southern accent and sometimes he doesn't.
I swear, he is the same in every movie. I really can't stand him, and in my opinion, The Untouchables would have been 3 million times better if any one else played Elliot Ness.

I think you've got something there. Costner's acting range are somewhat limited; he's an 'everyman' type of guy. But he's got a combination of brooding quality & good looks that does make him watchable. I've never minded him...thought he was pretty funny in Bull Durham, and just perfect as John Dunbar in his own masterpiece, Dances With Wolves. He was also pretty good in Field of Dreams. Never have seen The Untouchables, but I hear Sean Connery stole the show in that film, anyway. Apple [ January 17, 2002: Message edited by: AppleOnYa ]

Doesn't Capone remind you of Sonny? Hot tempered, and that always got in the way of things

The Untouchables is a great movie...But it lacked many things...I think they should have but a St. Valentine's Day massacre scene.....The film could have been so much better..But DePalma messed it all up.

I likewise agree regarding the Valentines M. Kevin Costner is so dull. It would have been better if Al Pacino (or anybody other then him did it).
Is the Untouchables DVD worth it? Does it have special features?

The movie is ABOUT Untouchable Elliot Ness, NOT Scarface Al Capone. So saying less Ness, more Capone, Less Costner, mre DeNiro is kind of an oxymoron. Costner ruined the film? He was the star.
