This story takes place during a certain period of the Godfather causing some related characters and plot points however it contains its own very interesting and dramatic story. I highly rec. this book to you and I doubt you will be dissapointed.
"Fredo -- you're my older brother, and I love you. But don't ever take sides with anyone against the Family again. Ever."
"My father taught me many things ... keep your friends close, but your enemies closer."
"I know it was you, Fredo. You broke my heart. You broke my heart."

I really love this book. I am reading it for the second time now. Yes Micheal Corleone is in the book, but he is not the central charachter in the story. To be honest, even if Micheal was never in the story my opinion on the book would not change. Because the way Puzo tells the story of Turi Guiliano with his sidekick Aspanu makes it a great read. I can't help but admire the charachter of Guiliano.
I am intrested in doing some research on the real life Guilano but I really don't know where to start.

Wow,I just finished the book, and it's great. Not like any of Puzo's other books I've read. In this book you're supposed to hate the Mafia and in others you side with the Friends of the Friends. It really deepened mike's character, and because it was written in 1984(after Part 1 and 2) it sort of explians how Mike was able to kill Fredo, and it hints that Vito might have killed his own brother.
"[Vito]A man's first duty is to keep himself alive. Then comes what everyone calls honor..... [No longer Vito]It was the first lesson Michael recieved from his father and the one he laerned best.It was to color his future life, persuade him to make terrible decisions he could never have dreamed of making before.[Like killing his own brother?]...It helped him survive, but it made him unhappy."
