This year the Aug. 22nd, had fallen on the day that Muhammad was presented with Quran and was appointed to be the prophet and being an illiterate man that he was, due to a miracle was able to read the book. There is no other significance to this day except that event and most importantly the fact that we got the day off, so I slept till noon.
As far as I understand it, scholars say that the original form of the book was all memorization and was not written down until about 20 years after his death
