DT- I am no great Bush supporter, but I have to disagree with you. I would classify that expression as more of one of disbelief, and I'd bet that each and every one us had that same expression upon hearing the news that day. I've also heard Bush criticized for continuing to read to the schoolchildren, and I disagree with that, too. They were young children, and I think that he instinctively carried on so as not to alarm them.
The truth is, during the Clinton administration we were all enjoying a robust economy. I think that there are very few Americans who wanted to rock the boat and start a war back then. And as far as the cuts in DoD money, weren't many of those cuts due to the end of the Cold War?
