My problem, among other things, with the actual story of THE DA VINCI CODE, is this:
So if this "secret" got out into the world, who would actually believe it? The faithful would still believe the Vatican over a fuck-you-mullet-wearing professor and some French chick(they might actually stone her to death when she starts saying how Jesus was her ancestor.)
But what about the proof? The Shroud of Turin was proven to be fraud, but you still have people who think the tests were rigged or that they were "mistaken" or whatever nonsense. My point being, people's faith is such that I think the book/movie's premise of the Vatican doing everything in its power to squash this conspiracy is.....silly.
In fact, wouldn't the die-hard Catholic wackos that would be willing to kill be only be a handful at best, instead of a whole Order or whatever the fuck?
Another problem...who was the last French Catholic who would defy his/her professional duties just because their priest told them to do so? I mean, isn't one of the problems that the conservative right in America have with the French because they're too.....un-spiritual? I know Jean Reno has bills to pay, but after GODZILLA, he's the go-to-guy in Hollywood for Frenchies. Damn, no wonder I love RONIN so much...
Though apparently, from what I've read, ANGELS & DEMONS is even more fucking silly. A guy keeps a container of Anti-matter, which cost BILLIONS of bucks to simply create tiny short-living atoms in our reality, in his fucking closet? You know, Dan Brown needs to team up with Michael "Fire in Space" Bay sometime. They would be a perfect team of Dumb and Dumber.
P.S. - Irish, you hated the movie too? There is hope!
