I actually did those over a year ago, for my Art at school; the subject was photography, and I explored it with the notion that if the camera never lies, it cannot tell the ultimate truth. Only through photo manipulation, however crude, can you filter some sort of external context into the frame. The bull-decapitation scene in Apocalypse Now with the iconographic picture of 'Nam and napalm; the stars and stripes conquering Hiroshima as if it were a lonely planet; but my favourite is this one:
