I agree with Lavinia on this. This whole scenario makes sense only in the context of a taboo/impossible relationship. At the same time their mutual love is as real and true as any other heterosexual one. So it is a tragedy and the movie brought it out very well. Crash was cliched, coincidence and stereotype filled story. It had a message, but I hate movies with an explicit preachy message.
On the other hand, I would put jarhead even ahead of BBM. That is the kind of movie that will become a celebrated one years later.
