well, artists (in genral, not specifically the ones in the movies) are among the most narcissistic
people one can think of. Believe me, recognition plays a huge role in their work, at least at a certain level of fame. Now, I agree some directors/actors are less prone to the showbiz, but I bet none would be sorry or just squeamish to get an Oscar. After all, there's only one Brando! Besides, he was already a star when he rejected his Oscar. An easier position for sure.... :p
