I voted for George Clooney, though I admit, it was tough.
Matt Dillon is a good actor who was finally given a chance to shine in "Crash". It's the best performance in the film, and very close to being the best in the category.
Paul Giamatti was easily the best thing about "Cinderella Man", though many claim his nomination is here only because he was snubbed last year. I disagree.
Jake Gyllenhaal is one person I always thought would be a great actor one day, but it seems like that day is today. I honestly think he gave a better performance in "Jarhead".
William Hurt was amazing in "A History of Violence". For such a small role in the last quarter, he almost stole the film. While he deserves a nomination, I can't help but feel Viggo Mortensen was wrongfully snubbed in what I consider the best performance of the year.
But George Clooney got my vote for "Syriana". His performance as the world-weary CIA agent is not only his best acting work, but one of the best of 2005. He nailed the role, and I hope he gets the Oscar.
