I'm not a fan of the books or films. But I will be seeing this sequel for one reason, and one reason only; Jonny Greenwood and Phil Selway of Radiohead (my favorite band, for anyone unaware) have a cameo in this film.
"Somebody told me when the bomb hits, everybody in a two mile radius will be instantly sublimated, but if you lay face down on the ground for some time, avoiding the residual ripples of heat, you might survive, permanently fucked up and twisted like you're always underwater refracted. But if you do go gas, there's nothing you can do if the air that was once you is mingled and mashed with the kicked up molecules of the enemy's former body. Big-kid-tested, motherf--ker approved."

They should really make these movies faster -- so Harry et al. age at the same rate as the actors themselves... cuz the last thing I want, is for some "more age-appropriate" actor replacing someone from the original cast!
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire ** 1/2
Harry's fourth summer and the following year at Hogwarts are marked by the Quidditch World Cup and the Triwizard Tournament, in which student representatives from three different wizarding schools compete in a series of increasingly challenging contests. However, Voldemort's Death Eaters are gaining strength and even creating the Dark Mark giving evidence that the Dark Lord is ready to rise again. In the unsuspecting lives of the young wizard and witches at Hogwarts the competitors are selected by the goblet of fire, which this year makes a very surprising announcement: Hogwarts will have two representatives in the tournament, including Harry Potter! Will Harry be able to rise to the challenge for the Tri Wizard Tournament while keeping up with school or will the challenges along with Voldemort's rebirth be too much for the young hero?
I was VERY disappointed with this movie to say the least. To clarify, I did enjoy the movie, but it was nowhere near as good as I was hoping for it to be. SPOILERS I knew that a book 700+ pages wouldn't fit well into a 2 1/2 hour movie and I was right. The movie was very fast paced and never seemed to slow down. It really felt like they were trying to cram in as much as they could due to Warner Bros. "time limit." I was also very upset at the fact that the Dursleys weren't in the movie as I love those characters very much. I also believe a member of the movie who didn't die in the book died in the movie (although I won't go so far as to spoil that). END OF SPOILERS If you're a fan of the book, don't set high expectations. Again, I did enjoy this movie, would see it again in theaters, and will definitely buy it on DVD. Personally, I'd rank the films in order:
1) Sorcerer's Stone 2) Prisoner of Azkaban 3) Goblet of Fire 4) Chamber of Secrets

Hey people, just a note to let you know that if you have a copy of Harry Potter and Sorcerer's Stone you should hang on to it. They've changed the title to Philosopher's Stone, which is the version that was released everywhere but the States pretty much, and they've stopped making Sorcerer's. They're way expensive to get now, so you could make a bit of cash on them. I work in a book store and it's impossible to get them in for customers now.
And all the books will be turned into movies eventually, they just like to take their sweet time. Quite frustrating really, I get so many people yelling at me when all I do is sell them the book, I don't make the movies. Gotta love retail.

Although i don't tend to like LONGLONG movies, I think with HP they should have made the exception.

Yes there were some people dressed up in the theater, including a friend I went to high school with. SPOILERS The Dursleys are the people Harry lives with during the summer (his aunt, uncle, and cousin). I love the characters in the movie because they are so nasty. And yes Hagrid, Professor McGonagall and Draco and all in the movie but only in limited roles unfortunately. END OF SPOILERS

If anything, Chris Columbus has always been a boring director, always a Point & Shoot director with no energy or style or anything remarkable. He was only hired as an insurance policy by Warner Brothers because he did HOME ALONE and others, which made a ton of money.
However, Alfonso Cuaron felt like a Latin Terry Gilliam with #3, in how he actually....has energy. He has flair, and he really did make me care about what the hell was happening.
Mike Newell, the director of the pretty good DONNIE BRASCO, succeeds as well with GOBLET OF FIRE, which feels in time-length like Columbus' earlier movies, but Newell isn't making kiddie fluff. Hes telling a story of maturation and of how now that the "happy ending" isn't its all cracked up to be.
My Rankings:
PRISONER OF AZKABAHN GOBLET OF FIRE CHAMBER OF SECRETS PHILOSIPHER'S STONE

That's the good thing about the Harry Potter books. They are heavy (700+ pages), but there is never deadweight. All the subplots and character developments are very fun to read. I doesn't always have to be about a major plotline. In a movie, maybe, but in (HP)-books that is not true. Btw, in HP all the 'deadweight' is always somehow functional for the main plot.
See, we can act as smart as we want, but at the end of the day, we still follow a guy who fucks himself with kebab skewers.
