They had a powerful cast during the Adam Sandler, Mike Myers, Dana Carvey, Chris Rock, Phil Hartman and Chris Farley era.
Then it went through a lull period which were then followed by the Will Ferrell, Chris Kattan, Cheri O'Teri and Molly Shannon era.
I guess we're in a lull period right now. 
I haven't seen the show in months. I liked the 70's era and the Mike Meyers, dana Carvey Etc. era the best.
