I'd definitly try deer though......I don't think I'd go for rabbit or possum or anything like that though

edit: Turtle doesn't sound too good to me....squirrel also doesn't seem too enticing to me.

I'm not a country girl either but I married a hillbilly so I got use to country cooking. squirrel tastes just like turkey turtle tastes just like chicken. I've never had rabbitt though. Now deer is delish.

Mig, I'd love dinner at your house, but I'm with DMC....steak will be just fine. And, no offense to you whatsoever, but :p I feel very confident that I'll never let squirrel, turtle or deer meat touch my lips. I just don't eat backyard critters. :p

A long long time ago, when I lived in Michigan, my brother-in-law who is an avid hunter and somewhat "hillbyilly" gave my husband and I deer meat. I felt sick just smelling it cook and couldn't eat it. But, I know a lot of people do like it....just not me.

But, put a steak on the grill and I'm there!!!

Last year my hubby shot a 6pt. buck so now I have deer steak,chops,hamburger,roast in my freezer. But don't worry the filet MIGNON I make will be pure beef. So come on over.

I just got back from a quick trip to Canada. The pics look great. And TIS got my shoes in one of the photos!! That almost made the blisters worth it!

I never had venison but heard it was a little gamey? I'd like to try it, tho. And rabbit. I'm not finicky, tho - I've tried alligator and frogs legs, escargot, I love sushi (okay, the sea urchin was NASTY!!), and beef tongue of course ...

I'll try pretty much anything once - except for most rodents (incl possum, squirrel :p ) and insects!

Turtle soup is good, tho - with sherry, please!
