Yeah, could you just see that? Geoff would be slicing the garlic with a razor, plaw would be pan frying the steaks and Cardi and I would be arguing over how many onions to put into the sauce (ala "Goodfellas").

I'd like to see some sights during the day but I don't have a specific itinerary.

I agree that the Mosholu is a must. I've been to Bookbinder's MANY years ago (and it was very nice). I remember, though, that they close fairly early (at least they did so back in the 70's when I was there). I don't wanna be rushed through dinner.

My vote would be for Saturday, since that's when we'll all be there...
Good enough for me. I vote for Moshulu on Saturday night.

(Anyway, I've been secretly dreaming of that Tortilla Soup - Grilled Chicken, Cilantro, Monterey Jack Cheese, Avocado - ever since reading it on the posted menu.)

We gotta stop all this talk about food .... I just drooled all over my keyboard.

I just called Bookbinder's. They're open from 5:00 - 10:00 on Friday and from 5:00 - 11:00 on Saturday. If everyone else votes for Mosholu on Saturday (I don't really care) would you guys consider Bookbinder's on Friday (instead of Shula's)? We could make reservations for 7:30, or so. (TIS, that'd give you plenty of time to arive, check-in and get settled). Their menu looks really good (and from what I remember of it the food was good).

That's fine with me. Tell me though, so I'll know how to pack, is this place "dressy??" Maybe our group will be mistaken for one of the dignitaries mentioned in Geoff's post. What do you think?

As it stands right now I'm not sure what my plans will be for that weekend. So I won't "vote" for anything, I'll just see the final plans and work my schedule based on that.

We don't have to go to Bookies for dinner if some of us don't like seafood cuz that's basically what it is. I'd be just as happy going there for Sunday Brunch if people still wanted to go to another Philly specialty (or Shula's).

My original thinking was that we should go to The Moshulu on SATURDAY night being that it is Godfather related, we are all Godfather Fanatics, and we all will be there on Saturday.

Now as far as Friday night goes, I'll go with the flow. Geoff made a good point about going to "unique" types of places. And Bookbinders.....

http://www.bookbinders.biz/menu_rawbar.php

....sounds great to me also. Gee, look at that Menu! Scrumptious!

But by hook or by crook, I'm going for famous cheesesteaks no matter who wants to go or when they want to go.

We are a lot of people and we all have different thoughts and ideas. If someone wants to do something that someone else doesn't, we shouldn't hold anyone back.

But my thinking is that TIS and MIG are traveling the farthest and making this trip a part of a vacation. Most of us can drive down to Philly any time we want.

So I suggest that we accomadate TIS and MIG and see what they would like to do while they are here.

But whatever the group decides is fine with me. As I said, as long as we are together, that's what matters most.

Well, I know that Mr. Babe went to Shula's last time he was in Philly, and he was looking forward to another visit, but I think that the Mosholu does sound interesting. I think that the most important thing is that we're all together.

DMC, I did promise you a drink. However, you have to beat me at quarters to get it.

As for Saturday afternoon, I think that we should plan on meeting in the hotel bar around 4 or 5 to have a few drinks before dinner. As DC knows, I am totally anal about having a time/place to meet. Would that work for everyone?

It's a drinking game. You're a virgin when it comes to those things, you'll learn. :p

I used to be queen of that game in my hay day. Still can't figure out who quasimodo is.

Let's not forget my Becky she's got a good drive ahead of her to. Thanks DC for thinking about me and Becky and TIS. I am easy to please. So I don't care where we eat or what we do. I just can't wait to see you guys. Like TIS says:

The way we played you had an option of rolling the quarter off your nose or bouncing it off the table, which I did. I think I had a 99% track record. But somehow I always managed to get drunk too. I guess it doesn't help when you're 1 girl with about 8 guys.

Either there's a generation gap here, or the quarter game is only back east. How does it go???

You put a shot of beer, or whatever drink of your choice, in a glass. A person tries to shoot a quarter off the table, or in my case off their nose, into the glass of drink. If you make it you pick someone to drink it, if you miss it you have to drink it.

DMC, maybe you need to hang out with SC, Plaw and myself a little bit more before we go down to Philly.

I was just looking over the Moshulu Menu and the Bookbinders Menu. Both are geared towards seafood. Personally I don't have a problem with that, but we need to decide if we want to do Seafood two night in a row for dinner or not.

Oh, I see. I know I'd pretty much suck at that game. I miss a big ol' wastebasket two feet in front of me when I toss paper in the trash. It'd be a dry ol' evening for me.
