TIS - Here's the website for the hotel, and I do believe that they mention a breakfast buffet! Now, watch out, you've never seen me and Mr. Babe at a buffet!!

Also, I notice that they mention complimentary internet access! Maybe JG will get a laptop by August!!

(quoting from the website): If you would like to start your day off right, our Full American Breakfast buffet offers everything you can imagine, even our own signature waffle!

I wonder if those waffles are frozen.

Ooopps, sorry, SB. I didn't mean to say "frozen". :p

You know, JG, that IS amazing!! Just the other day, DC informed me that you can buy stuff off this site, and now you tell me that there are links that you can click on!! I swear, you learn something new every day on the Gangster BB!

Edited to Add: I was going to say that you can come to our room to use the laptop, but that just sounded so WRONG and somehow dirty, and then I remembered who I was dealing with and decided to add it.

Can we do Shula's on the Friday Night?

SB, did I read wrong, or did you post that you were not coming until Saturday?

Hey I love buffets, but we don't need to go out of the way to eat at one. I know some people don't care for them.I just like to eat. :p

I most likely won't be in town until early evening (late afternoon at the very earliest Friday.) I'm still checking flights. You guys know all the restaurants around there, so you choose. It might be best to not count on me for Friday dinner, but I'll let you know when I know.

I'm just wondering about any others who maybe couldn't decide, or maybe are too shy to speak up, and still want to go. Especially those back East like JL and Signor Vitelli, and DJ, Tony B from Chicago. And one of my favorites Mary Cas. I know I'm leaving tons of people out.

If I may, I just want to let all know that everyone is welcome. Now would probably be the time to at least get a room in your name and still be able to cancel if it didn't work out.

TIS,

I agree buffets are great. I've never been to Shula's what's so great about it? Since you guys say it's a good place then I'm looking forward to going there.

SB,

I was looking at that link about the hotel you posted and did you notice this:
Quote:
The hotel is attached to the Gallery Mall offering over 150 shops and restaurants

Mig,

Shula's is great. You would not believe the portions of food. I think I had prime rib in Chicago, and what was it about 5lbs. Even for me, it was a lot. Very nice place. You won't be disappointed. I don't think we have it here in CA, that I know of anyway.

From my one experience in Chicago, Shula's is GOOD, and portions are GREAT. But....

In Philly, I'd rather have an authentic cheese steak. I'd rather go to Pat's...... Shula's can't compare!! :p

Thanks, DC, I just drooled all over my keyboard.

Lori did the confirmation thing. She had major trouble getting it done despite reading Geoff's post word for word to the agent. Eventually a manager took over and did it right away explaining that some of these agents (who do reservation things) are "sub-contracted" (i.e. they're not hotel employees) and are poorly trained.

I'm all in. I spoke with Maryann and just said someone in corporate saved a block of reservations, gave her my name, and I was all set.

I guess it means you're stuck with me...unless I change my mind. If you think I pick on you now Cardi, imagine what it will be like in person. :p

I will not be arriving until Saturday. Can't get the house/baby/pet sitting for two nights. That means Shula's on SATURDAY, ok? Mr. Babe was in Philly for business recently and stayed at The Wyndham, which is where Shula's. He said it was awesome. We can do Pat's for lunch.

What do you consider early? I'll probably get the bus out of Baltimore late morning/afternoon, and I'm not 2 hours away.

I think chcck-in time was in the afternoon isn't it? Like 2:00 or something???

Beth, I think they have a "zucchini" wing at the hotel. :p I wish I was only two hours away.

Btw, I am searching a lot of travel sites for the best flight deals. So far everything is pretty comparable. Does anyone know of any travel sites, other than the most popular ones, that they can suggest?

Oh, and Pat's sounds good too. I can't go to Philly without trying a Philly Cheeseteak.

Picking on me again, huh? :p

If enough are planning on getting there late morning / very early afternoon, then I will get there early also. But I don't want to get there early and be the only one there.

Hmmmm, then again maybe it will be a chance for me and the wife to grab some time alone together?

I checked Greyhound and it seems the ride is more like 3 hours. I've been to Philly before, and I don't remember it taking that long. Maybe it now has more pick ups on the way. Even so, would arrive in the afternoon.

Check-in is at 4:00.

I'd like to get there leaving enough time for a drink or three and be able to unwind before dinner.

I'll need extra time to unpack my first aid kit.

So far, the earliest I see a flight arriving in Philly is 6:20 p.m. (or maybe it was 5:20) So even if it's on time, by the time I get my luggage get to the hotel (don't know how far the airport is from the hotel), I expect I'd get there around 7/8:00???? I'm still checking though.
