Hey That sounds like fun. When I was in SanFran. over the Summer I wanted to go to Alcatraz but I didn't get a chance. Do they let you go in the cells? Where is this at in PA?

It's in Philadelphia, it looks like a Castle, it's no longer in use. They have a guided tour that goes through certain parts of it but I'm almost positive you are allowed to roam most anywhere.

I visited Alcatraz Prison several years ago. A really interesting tour that I would recomend to anyone visiting the San Fran area. I went inside one of those solitary confinement cells, and when they shut the door, you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. I was in the dark for like 5 seconds, which felt like 30 minutes.

They showed us AL Capone's cell, Machine Gun Kelly's cell along with Robert Stroud, The Birdman Of Alcatraz's cell, who by the way really wasn't the Birdman of Alcatraz. He actully was the birdman of Leavenworth. But that title didn't sound good for the hollywood movie, so they changed it to The Birdman Of Alacatraz. He never had any birds while in Alcatraz.

I talked to Becky last night and she told me that she would like to go to Philly for the convention then go to NYC for a couple days instead of spending all the time in the NJ/NY area.

So my question is : Is having the convention in Philly ok with all the people who are serious about attending?

It's a year late, but thanks to JG, I can finally post my pics from the GBB Chicago convention from September 2004. It took me a year to develop and scan them.

Like I said to JG - I REALLY need to step into the digital age!

Here ya go!

Left Side (Front to Back): Don Sicilia, JG, La Dolce Vita, Don Cardi

Right Side (Front to Back): TIS, Lori, SC, Mikey Montana

LDV and the Fonz (Ayyyyyyeeee) :p

LDV and JG proudly wearing Scrubbies hats. LDV Thought Bubble - "Watch your hand there, Geoff." :p

Very cool pics, DB! DAMN that took you forever! And you only took three pictures? I like that last picture of LDV and JG, it's really cute.

Alcatraz... it's so gorgeous, isn't it? I love seeing it across the water. There's just something so cool and mysterious and beautiful about it. Hey, why don't we go to Frisco for the convention?! There's a thought... had it been suggested before? Probably. Anyway, if you guys fly, it's about 5 hours, and if TIS and I drive, it's 6-ish hours. So the distance isn't the same but the time can be. And if JG drives, he'll make it in... what, 2 hours?

Just thought I'd bump this thread up again. Anyone else that hasn't posted, thinking about going tot he "meet?"Ideas/thoughts/suggestions??

Still plenty of time to plan you guys.

Yes Zia, Alcatraz would be nice, but with some of our "shady" members, they might just keep them there. (I loved S.F.)

Didn't we agree that because you and Mignon were traveling so far that we would do something in New Jersey, right across from Manhatten?

That would be ok with me.

Not bad folks, 474 post and you folks still don't have anything down firm yet.
Do you think it is time, that one person takes control and get the event started?

Disappointed once again. This brings back childhood memories of losing my third grade class election.

Hey, I'll go along with what whatever. Really!!! If it's in Philly that's fine, and if it's somewhere else, that's ok too.

I do appreciate those of you willing to let me/Mig decide, but I wouldn't feel right. It should be a group thing IMHO, and thus far it seems most go for Philly. Just let me know to which city I need to buy a ticket.
