Hi Don Lights, It's not too late to attend this year's. We have a lot of time, and as you can see, haven't even set a definite date yet. We'd love to have you. Feel free to give us suggestions as well. TIS

If you opt to head into Philly - I can probably hook you up with some good places to eat and visit. I saw earlier some mention of The Moshulu. I used to visit that quite often when I was a Little Daddy - down by the waterfront for some drinks and walks - was a good place to take the ladies on dates. It was not bad - have not been there in a few years since the fire but I don't know if that is a place everyone will like. Granted it was in the movie but as a ship - to me that may not be a reason to have dinner there. It is like everyone going to Cheers in Boston cause of the show only to get inside and be like - wtf. They have a lot of smaller tables overlooking the water, not sure how a big table for all of you will work. However it is not a bad place, but there are better places for dinner. Matter of fact if you like Italian food there is a great restraurant right up the waterfront. It is believe to be mobbed owned - that is the story, but for Italian food it is great. One of the places where like each table has 3 servers - soon as you put a fork down someone is there with a new one - class place and the food is delicious. Again pure Italian cuisine - when we were there earlier in the year with friends the background music was The Godfather - we just looked at smiled because of the mob reputation it has - but again great great place. I would recommend that over The Moshulu for dinner but you could also stroll down to The Moshulu for drinks afterwards. If you hit NY or even in Phila, for those of you traveling out of town - was a dinner and cruise on The Spirit of NY (or Phila) discussed. Takes you up the river - see the sights and have your dinner. Allows you to be a bit rowdy and nobody needs to be on their best behavior - although I doubt that stops anyone regardless of where you go. You do need to put up with the Broadway wannabee waiters and waitresses singing and dancing though - plenty of broadway tunes. With that I can see Lezbo brining her cousin Bruno now - Zia - They have ShowTunes !!! Again in Phila, the waterfront is really nice, I enjoy it however PL is right if you want to do a lot of walking or bar hoping it is a bit out of the way of Center City - depends on your mood, for a visit to Phila, I do suggest the waterfront for dinner though and CC for during the day, i.e. Brunch, shopping, whatever. If you go and as the time gets closer I can try and forward suggestions.

And at least those posting back and forth are making positive suggestions and making an effort in providing different thoughts and ideas.......instead of just sitting back and having fun watching others try to contribute to something of interest to all involved.... Don Cardi, I did stress lighthearted headbutting. In other words it's obviously not turning into an argument but it has gotten a little complicated even with all the 'positive' suggestions. And it is a little bit fun to watch. And although I maintain it makes no real difference me where the convention is finally held...I did also make a few minor suggestions (such as it should be narrowed to 3 'favorite' cities, and the final location/hotel decided between the moderators, otherwise you have just too many options - that's not even including the dates which has evolved into another issue) ; even if I didn't expect them to be taken. Anyway, carry on.... Apple

Actually Apple, I was thinking of suggesting narrowing it down to two/three places also, and have all of us vote on it, and whatever comes up comes up, but didn't want to complicate matters even more. Too bad there's not a way to post a calendar and have everyone check off the time that isn't good and pick a weekend from there. (more complication). When you think of it, if we were all sitting in my living room, say about 12 people discussing when to have this convention, there'd be the same discussion with people and conflicting dates. We simply have to do it on line, from day to day, which makes it drag out. Bottom line, whenever, wherever, I'll try to make it. TIS

EXCELLENT IDEA...and it probably would help in coming to a quicker resolution, as opposed to complicating matters even more. Here's my final contribution - Vegas, Chicago, Philly, NY/NJ seem to be the most 'popular' suggestions and happen to cover each section of the USA. So why don't the bunch of you vote on those and may the best location win. Or...choose 4 cities of your own and then have the vote. As promised (over & over), I'll abstain. There's certainly no hurry, as this is clearly almost almost a year away!! Let me know, I'll join the gang if possible. Done with this thread, AppleOnYa

If this is happening next summer, I could definetly make dinner in Philadelphia and some parts of Jersey... that is if I'm allowed to be there. I'll be an adult by age then, so I hope no one plans on kicking my ass. :p

Mig - I can get to Philly in an hour if there's no traffic, but there's usually traffic, so I can make it in an hour and a half at the most. I just take 422 east out to King of Prussia and then I get on 76 East and head right into Philly.
Bring it DC. :p

Ok here's the scoop. Becky called me tonight and told me about a Hilton Garden Inn in Philly in the center city or city center whatever. A co-worker of hers has a cousin and he/she is the manager of that hotel. He (co-worker) told Becky that he will TRY to get his cousin to give us a 50% discount. Sounds good to me. And yes they have a restaurant and a lounge on the top floor, a pool, fitness center, suites. Here is a link Hilton Garden Inn The only thing I don't like is you have to pay $20.00 a day to park. She will call and let me know when she gets all the details. SO WHAT DO YA THINK?
