I've seen things like this get really confused when the voting choices are scattered way out there. While I'll still abstain from voting since only one location would be good for me...might I suggest that Don Cardi, JGeoff, SC and possibly plaw look over the links provided and decide on THREE finalist cities. Then put those 3 out to a vote and everyone gather at the winner in 2006. Don't count this as a vote since I wouldn't come anyway...but I happen to agree with Don C about the 'convenience' of travelling to Chicago which really is the one central point for almost everybody. Incidentally...why does it have to be a 'major' city? What would be the problem with everyone booking a chosen motel at some smaller vacation spot like Wildwood, NJ. Much cheaper, plenty to do and even within driving distance of AC in case anyone can't live without a visit there. From what little I saw of the most recent convention, it doesn't look like much more than a few nights out on the town and a visit to some kind of 'mob' or GF related location. Of course, I've only partaken in one of these things...and showed up late at that. So what do I know..??? Not that any of the above is to be counted as a 'vote', mind you. Just enjoying a streamofconsciousness. Hope y'all were enjoying it, too!!! Apple

*that is of course unless a certain restaurant doesn't own a casino Actually DMC, I was just kidding with that post. We've discussed AC in the past and felt that a place like that would probably not be a good venue. Too many distractions that would probably cause everyone to do their own thing. Not really what we would want for our convention. Personally I feel that if enough people from these boards were serious enough to commit to coming, Chicago would be a fair location for all. If others are really not serious about attending and won't commit, then NY/NJ area would be reasonable as most of us who attend come from this area. That is just my opinion. Don Cardi

DS We want to have a Godfather Trilogy Convention, Not a General Discussion / Other Political Convention! Don Cardi [/b][/quote] Good one DC. Actually I'd love to see D.C., but I can just see it now....the dreaded Political Debate. If PLAW and SB didn't show, I'd be all alone. To follow-up on DC's last post, it's probably most logical to ask, since most of you are East Coasters (or surrounding areas), who of you would attend if it were outside your area? If nobody can, then the only option would be NY/NJ no????? Do you guys have a preference between NY/NJ or Chicago? TIS

TIS Me, I have no preference really. Chicago would work fine for me. I liked that town and wouldn't mind going back there at all. The only objection that I would have to going to Chicago is if the others from around the country did not commit to attending and it wound up that the east coast faction and yourself only attended. Not that I wouldn't travel 10,000 mile to see you TIS, but you know what I mean. Don Cardi

Ha ha ha!! You know, I was thinking, if I "am" the only one coming from a significant distance, and had to choose, I'd definitely choose NYC. Not that I didn't like Chicago, cause I did. I'm going to try to make it wherever it is, but if I'm gonna travel as far as Chicago, hell, I might as well go to NY. Unless of course gas prices rise so high that flights are out of my price range. I can't afford an arm or leg. :p TIS

Chicago is nice. I hadn't been there in years when I went last year. I really enjoyed it. Lori & I attempted to go shopping but it was Sunday and most everything was closed. I would have loved to look around more. Neat city. TIS

How many would REALLY be interested in Philadelphia? Dinner on The Moshulu. Nice hotels nearby. This may really be a good idea. Opinions please? Don Cardi

I can't think of a better venue for dinner than the ship, but keep in mind that Philly is famous for closing up early. If our hotel's bar stays open late I guess the rest of the town can go to sleep early. I'd still want some guarantee from the hotel on the bar's closing hours, though. TIS - The Philly airport is a short ride from the downtown section where many of the hotels are AND you'd be able to climb the steps that Stallone did in "Rocky". Miggie - Forget deli sandwiches.... you HAFTA try one of the local Philly cheesesteak sandwiches!

When time goes by and the night grows darker, will he attempt to close down the bar? Hotel Manager - The Hotel Bar will guarantee to stay open. Don Cardi - Wait a minute, you're telling me that The Hotel Bartender guarantees that they will stay open late? The hotel manager hears him first, and then very slowly turns to face him. I've never been to Philly, and don't know anything about it, except of course Rocky Balboa lives there :p and the cheesesteak sandwiches are good. Oh, and I think the tv show "Cold Case" is filmed there, if I'm not mistaken. Sounds fun too. TIS
