Ignore me cause I'm thinking way way ahead (well ignore me after someone answers my question :p . How far is Philly from NYC???? Just thinking, if this ends up anywhere close to NYC, I'd love to go to NY afterward and spend a couple days there. Is it hours to drive it or better to fly? Sorry but I have no concept of direction back in the Eastern neck of the woods. TIS

I never made the drive myself, but it's not that far. According to THIS it should take less than 2 hours.... Edit: 3.5 hrs? In SB-time I guess. :p NYC is about 1.5 hrs north of me, and Philly is about an hour due west of me -- even if you detoured to the Jersey Shore you could make it in less than 3.5 hrs
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

Really? I thought it was further than that. I guess I should've checked the web. ETA: Of course, you need to stop for coffee, which then forces you to stop to pee, and while you're at the rest stop, you get more coffee, and maybe some beef jerky, bu the 2nd cup of coffee means you need to stop and pee again, and while you're there, you get more coffee.....

Funny, if you look at that map... I live right by the "s" in "Pinewald Keswick Rd" -- but I've never even heard of that road before!!

Just an endless cycle. I hate having to stop so much. When I go on a long trip I hate being in the car I want to hurry and get there. Hey SB would you and Mr Babe drive or fly to Philly?

Mig, You should check out the flights, with what you'd pay for gas, it might not be a whole lot more to fly. You were in Cali and didn't give me a call??? Where in CA were you? TIS

I thought I'd just refresh this thread. I've been doing some research and found a few sites that may or may not be of interest. I haven't read each through thoroughly, but just food for thought. All input is welcome. I figure we have time so we might as well toss things around. Ok, I think this one is more for coproration, so we're not quite there yet. :p web page Part had mentioned KC, and I found this link Kansas City Of Course Chicago (I know we've mentioned this before) Chicago This one sounds like it might be fun in San Francisco San Francisco And of course, while there, we'd have to see this: web page St. Paul web page Then of course there's the one and only NYC, which I couldn't find any kind of gangster tours/events , but then with half the group from the area, we'd have our own tour guides. :p TIS

The Coppola wine tour would really be a nice thing. Although if I did something like that, I would definitely plan a long vacation around it. I liked that company that will set up a gangster theme. Pretty neat! I still maintain that a place like Chicago is a good choice due to the convenience for everyone traveling there. I hope that the guy who promoted the show there in 2004 will do one in 2006. He claims that he is trying to get one together for 2006. We'll see. And of course, the gangster capitol of the nation, NYC is always a good choice. Good food, nice hotels, nightlife, plenty of things to do, and plenty of places to tour where real life stuff happened as well as filming locations for mob movies. Don Cardi

I think it depends on what everyone wants to do. I think that the Jersey thing was perfect, because people did different things during the day, while others just came for the company.
Personally, I think that if you're going to get together, then just get together. I don't think we need a big convention or other distraction. If we were to do it in Manhattan, then there's certainly enough to do there (Sopranos tour, Ellis Island/Statue of Liberty just to name a quick two) that would be Ganster related. And like you said, DC, there are certainly very few cities that offer more in the way of restaurants, etc.

To be honest, I would LOVE to go to NYC again. I agree SB, there is so much to see, and I'd like to see again some sights I've already seen (i.e. Ellis Island, Little Italy). The food is spectacular, there are many GF sights in NY that our members know. Like DC said if we were to choose S.F., coming from the West Coast, I'd have to plan a longer stay if it were in NY. There's no way I'd only spend a weekend there, or half the time would be flight/airport time. TIS P.S. I do think you all would love San Francisco though, and even if not this year, keep it in mind for the future. It's a great city.

Don't shoot me for this suggestion, but would it be worth it to post a thread and have everyone who would like to go vote on a location??? (I know, not another poll :p ). Just to get an idea. I'd suggest only those who are serious vote and consider how far they are willing to/or can afford to travel to, rather than simply for the convenience of having it close to home. I know it's an expense more for some than others (myself included). For me, I will definitely try to go anywhere, but would need time to plan/save if it were on the East, and vice versa. Since we are just tossing ideas around and have the time, why not? TIS

Gee, TIS, it sounds like you're looking for an excuse to return to NY. Which we would love, by the way. It seems that your name comes up every time I get together with these guys, and only in the best way, so come on back!!! I have to honestly say that anything as far as LV or CA would require an extended vacation for me, and that means that I would not be able to make it (kids, those pains). Or I'd have to bring them, which would definitely cut down on the fun, for me AND them.
