I can understand your point Geoff, about casinos and everyone kind of going there own way. For those who like to gamble, I suppose it wouldn't be hard to wander off and park it somewhere. Then again, if we are with a group, perhaps it'll curb the gambling somewhat. I don't know about AC, but if it's like Vegas, there are plenty of lounges/shops, tours, shows, etc. not to mention most any time of the year except the dead of summer you can count on decent weather.

It would be nice to see something "gangster" related simply because we are all fans, but even if not, doesn't mean a good time won't be had.

And I suppose where ever the location, it'll be close/convenient for one, but not for another. It would be nice if any of the members here who have never gone but really want to go, let us know if you're serious and if you have any suggestions feel free to say so. No reason why we can't toss the ball around. We have plenty of time at this point.

I think that whatever we end up doing, we should do it in a place that will have decent weather at that time of year, and in a hotel that offers other amenities, be it gambling or golf or at least couple of pools. That way, we'll have other distractions during the day.

I love the idea of NYC, just because I love NY. However, you're not going to find much to do IN a NY hotel, and it's going to be very expensive to do almost anything. Even having a few drinks in NY can cost a fortune.

Well, I assume it goes without saying that I refuse to go in the winter, anyplace where it snows!!! :p

Little Chicago is what my town used to be known as. When something was pulled off (a hit, heist, etc.), Chicago mafiosi would often come to this town to cool down from law enforcement. From what I hear, it usually worked.

Here's a freaky story:

I met Sicilian Babe and Mr. Babe for the first time on Saturday about two hours before dinner. As we were getting to know each other the subject of visiting Sicily came up and Mr. Babe was describing how dangerous the approach to Palermo Airport is. OK, so after dinner everyone was going back to the lounge when I went back to my room to freshen up first and I turned the tv on to catch the top news stories. Lo and behold there was a story about a plane crashing into the sea after leaving Palermo Airport.

BTW - That was the second freaky thing to happen that day. The other was seeing the horse die at the track. It was the #6 horse in the 6th race on the 6th day of the month.

no, that plane left from Bari airport (in Puglia) and crashed into the sea near Palermo. It is not clear yet what this disaster was due to, the only thing they are sure it was not terrorism. It was a Tunisinian ATR, full of Italian tourists, en route to Djerba/Tunisia. Thirteen people died. Another 20 were rescued.

It is true that Palermo airport is generally considered by pilots to be "difficult to approach" because of the mountains nearby (Punta Raisi). Almost 30 years ago a plane crashed, with more than 100 casualites. No other disaster happened since then, though. When I go to Sicily I prefer landing in Catania, anyway....
