TIS suggested that we start a new topic for the possibility of having a 2006 GangsterBB convention. nothing is in stone , and suggestions are highly encouraged.

It certainly looks interesting. It could be fun, but then anything with you guys would be fun!!

Sounds like our enforcer is game.

Some of those "stars" hafta be 100 years old now, yet I'd still wanna have my picture taken with them (Noel Niell, the gal who played Lois Lane on the 1950's tv show "Superman", is one of them).

We could have a conventioon in a cave and we would have a good time.

So are we talking Chicago or are we open to other locations??? (sorry, again I don't have time to browse)

Plan it for when school is out for the summer.

Sounded awesome! Chicago is about five hours away, May 6th is a day after my birthday.

Oops! I forgot about that? That could cramp my style.

Can we do this again in about five years, so I'd have a better chance of travel, finance, and drinking eligibility?

Or better yet, bring it to Houston and we'll catch an Astros game together! Maybe someday...

Ok, I have a few extra minutes here, since I am home for lunch.

It is funny (and fun) that another gathering is being planned only days after the last one. Are we party people or what.

My random thoughts (and this is ONLY my thoughts)

1.I was planning on posting a potential meeting in CA here after this last get-together. My initial thought was working with Zia (who agreed to help) in having a West Coast thing. She knows L.A. well and I'm sure would be extremely helpful in getting things together. Also Vegas sounds wonderful as well.

2.Also, again my two cents, I loved Chicago, but for me, and as far away as I am, and since I'd be traveling that far anyway, if I had to choose between Chicago and NYC, I'd definitely pick NYC. I never know when/if I'd be able to make it out there, and of the two, I would go with NYC.

3. Also, for me anyway, should East/midwest be decided I would require more than just a weekend, thus requiring me to put in vacation time. With that distance, I'd take a few extra days.

4. Another suggestion we could discuss as well, is maybe getting somewhere in the middle of the states, so more people may attend. I just am not certain if we want touristy things and/or an event along with the get together,

All that being said, I am open to discussion and will try to make it wherever it ends up.

Nothing is set in stone here. I just posted an "Idea" to try and get the ball rolling.



But to be realistic, we need to agree on a place that the majority of us would find easy and convenient to get to.

I've tossed around the idea of Atlantic City also. The only thing that concerns me about having it in a casino atmosphere is that we may tend to "do our own thing" in a casino and that would defeat the purpose of us getting together. Then again, I may be wrong. We can just agree that we will hang together nd limit our gambling to a certain amount of time. I wouldn't have to gamble all day and personally would spend the time we allott together with everyone. but I don't know how others feel. the other Positive with AC is that we can go to a show together.

The Chicago thing was also an idea because it provided a venue for us in regards to that show.

I think that having some sort of activity or venue is a positve addition for us.

So please give your ideas!

I don't know, I think that if we want to get together, it should be for us to get together. Having a show or venue to me is like those birthday parties my daughter's friends have where they all go to a movie. How is that a party? The purpose of a party is to get together with your friends, not sit in the dark staring at a screen and not being able to talk to one another. But that's just me. I want to hang out and talk to you guys. On the other hand, I was only with you all one night. If we were to do a whole weekend, maybe we need the distraction of something else going on so we don't get sick of one another.

I like the idea of AC. But I live a few hours away, so it's rather convenient. Hell, I'd go back to the Doubletree. Just being with you guys is good enough for me.

Well when we were in Chicago, some of us arrived on Thursday, and some on Friday. Of course we hung together and went to dinner together and at night hung out drinking and having fun in the hotel lounge, but on Saturday it was nice for some of us to see Chicago, go to a game, go to the pier, etc. And having the show was really cool too because it broke the day up a bit and made for an even better party in the evening for us. We did the same thing in the doubletree, some went ot the Corleone House and some went to the track. If there was some kind of a movie or gangster show in the Doubletree, it would have made it interesting.

The more I think about it, the more I like the AC idea. Heck, we can gamble in the day, have dinner, do a show and then PARTY PARTY PARTY all night.

But then again, I also like the Chicago idea.

I'm sooo confused!

I don't "drink" but if I want to have 1 with a couple of friends I would like the option to lol

I still like the convention idea over a casino. Sure, I suppose at both people could do their own thing (gamble vs walk the booths), but at least it's something that can be shared -- you can walk the booths together, buy movie memorabilia stuff, meet interesting B actors, etc. Conventions usually are only during the day, and you can come and go as you please. Casinos (and the bars) are open 24/7 which might sound great at first glance, but I don't know how many times I've spent all night at a table not realizing that many hours have gone by. And it's very difficult to gamble together unless you're standing next to someone playing slots. It can also cost you a lot of money if your luck is bad.

The Chicago con was great, even tho the con itself wasn't. We (at least I) spent maybe 30 mins max in that room all weekend! What was great was going to dinner, and hanging out in the lounge, and hanging out "waiting in the lobby", and touring a little (ballgame downtown). It was one of the best weekends of my life. I don't know -- maybe I'm wrong -- but it's harder for me to see that in a casino. But hell, I'll go wherever the majority wants and I'll still have a good time!

Then again, the buffets and 24/7 atmosphere is enticing... as is the fact that it's only 40 mins from me.

You guys who hung in Vegas recently -- what do you think? Would that atmosphere be good for something like we did last weekend?

At least we have some time to think about it...

If you're with us for a weekend, then you'll end up being an alcoholic by Sunday!
