YTB - The name (Avanti's) and the address were the same in 1969 as they are today, but regardless, you're right .... their sandwiches are awesome.

Speaking of Champaign, I worked there for about a week in 1971 at a sandwich place called "Submarine Village". It was nothing special; very much like Subway. I can't remember exactly where it was, though, other than it being near the UI campus.

You guys out there (in the midwest) have some great eatin' places. I've eaten steak all across the country and one of the best I've ever had was from a "chain" restaurant out there (Shula's in Itasca). Dunno if it had anything to do with it being close to the stockyards but it was awesome!
