Harry Potter Casting NewsAugust 2, 2006 - Acclaimed actress Helena Bonham Carter, who recently portrayed the mother of Charlie in Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, has signed on for the fifth Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Warner Bros. Pictures confirmed today that Bonham Carter will portray Bellatrix Lestrange, cousin to Sirius Black and a follower of Lord Voldemort, also known as a Death Eater.
The extensive and impressive cast list includes Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Gary Oldman, Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson, Robbie Coltrane, Maggie Smith, David Thewlis, Fiona Shaw, Jason Isaacs, Richard Griffiths, David Bradley, Brendan Gleeson, Michael Gambon, Julie Walters, Ralph Fiennes, Robert Hardy and Mark Williams.
Bonham Carter joins fellow newcomers Imelda Staunton as Deloris Umbridge; Natalie Tena as Nymphadora Tonks; Kathryn Hunter as Mrs Figg; George Harris as Kingsley Shacklebolt; and Evanna Lynch as Luna Lovegood.
Nicholas Hooper has also been announced as composer of the score for Phoenix. The project reunites the composer with director David Yates, with whom he has had a longstanding partnership.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will be released by Warner Brothers in 2007.
