Costa Rican authorities seized a large shipment of 3,450 kilos of cocaine hidden in a container among fresh fruit destined for export to Europe at a port terminal. " There are 3,450 kilos of cocaine in a container of fresh fruit destined for the port of Antwerp. This is a significant coup thanks to the use of our scanners ," said Costa Rica's Minister of Public Security, Mario Zamora . The Ministry of Public Security indicated that this seizure is part of the so-called "Operation Sovereignty," conducted since 2023 at the Moin Container Terminal, in the province of Limón (Caribbean), Costa Rica's main export port.

"Thanks to the port's scanner technology, agents on duty at the terminal were able to detect the narcotic substance inside the legal cargo of fresh fruit, in a container bound for Antwerp, Belgium, with a final destination in a port in the Netherlands," the ministry explained.
