The Navy is currently in contact with the ship, which is part of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition. On board is Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, among others.

Earlier in the night, a group of boats approached the activist ship, but they appeared to leave after a while. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz says he has ordered his military to prevent the Madleen from actually sailing to Gaza.

The navy is demanding a change of course for the activist ship as it approaches a restricted area, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said.

'Madleen surrounded by drones'
Gaza Freedom Flotilla reports, according to news channel Al Jazeera, that the Madleen is surrounded by drones, which are “spraying the ship with a white, paint-like substance.” According to a post by the organization on Instagram, the activist ship’s communication lines have also been disrupted and disruptive noises are being broadcast over the radio.
