Gaza aid fund: Distribution sites did not open Saturday due to direct threats by Hamas

The US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation GHF issued a statement Saturday saying that Hamas has issued direct threats against its operation, which is the reason its distribution sites were not opened throughout the day.

"These threats made it impossible to proceed today without putting innocent lives at risk," the statement said.
According to the foundation, its employees, except for American security staff, are all local Gazans.

A controversial humanitarian organization backed by the United States and Israel did not distribute any food aid on Saturday, accusing Hamas of making threats that "made it impossible" to operate in the enclave, which the Palestinian militants denied.

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, which uses private US security and logistics firms to operate, said it was adapting operations to overcome the unspecified threats. It later said in a Facebook post that two sites would reopen on Sunday.

A Hamas official later denied the claims, saying he has no knowledge of any alleged threats.

The IDF announced that arrival at aid distribution sites in the Gaza Strip is only allowed between 6AM and 6PM, adding that arriving outside of these hours is "extremely dangerous."
