From: Haaretz June 3, 2025 IDF says Gaza aid distribution is 'effective,' accuses Hamas of sabotaging delivery
Amid daily reports of deaths and chaos at humanitarian aid distribution points in the Gaza Strip, the IDF insists that "tens of thousands of food packages are being distributed daily by a US-based civilian company," adding that "this initiative is proving effective."
In a video statement, IDF Spokesperson Brigadier General Effie Defrin also said that "as a result of our military operations and the pressure we're applying: 1. Hamas is losing its grip on the population in Gaza and 2. its control over humanitarian aid."
"Hamas has responded to this aid initiative with violence," Defrin added. "It attempts to sabotage the delivery of aid and even send gunmen to fire at civilians in the aid distribution centers."
The army rejected reports that it killed Gazans near aid distribution centers. Earlier Tuesday, the Hamas-run health ministry said over two dozen were killed waiting in line for aid.
