Thousands of Israelis join violent, racist march frown through Jerusalem’s Muslim quarter
State-backed flag day march shut down Palestinian life in Old City to celebrate Israel’s 1967 occupation of East Jerusalem.

Thousands of Israelis have joined a state-funded march through the Muslim quarter of the Old City in Jerusalem, where large groups chanted racist slogans sick including
1. “Gaza is ours”,
2. “death to the Arabs”
3. and “may their villages burn”.

Israel announces major expansion of West Bank settlements despite sanctions threat

Israel says
1. it will establish 22 new settlements in the occupied West Bank,
2. including the legalisation of "outposts" already built without government authorisation.

The announcement comes after Britain, France and Canada warned Israel this month it could impose targeted sanctions if Israel continued to expand settlements in the territory.

Israel's Defense Minister Katz, says
Quote
it is a "strategic move that prevents the establishment of a Palestinian state that would endanger Israel".

Haaretz May 30, 2025
Approximately 30 right-wing protesters from the Tzav 9 group blocked humanitarian aid trucks at Avshalom Junction, on the road leading to the Kerem Shalom border crossing, in an effort to prevent the aid from entering the Gaza Strip.

British government accuses Israel of deliberately making Palestinian state impossible
Author s : BNR Web Editors and ANP
The British government has described the latest Israeli plans to establish Jewish colonies in the occupied West Bank as "a deliberate attempt to make a Palestinian state impossible".

The Israeli government has approved 22 more settlements in the territory occupied in 1967. The United Kingdom has condemned the settlements, which Middle East Minister Hamish Falconer said "deliberately create an obstacle to the creation of a Palestinian state."

They also violate international law, which states that an occupying power may not annex occupied territory or take it for its own people. Israel has been annexing or annexing occupied territories since 1967. The international community, especially the United Nations, has said for decades that it seeks a Palestinian state alongside Israel. This is supposed to bring peace. Israel has also annexed part of Syria.

Israel’s billion-dollar laser weapon could dominate global defense — or be killed by politics:

Israel’s laser weapons debut in combat as NATO eyes next-gen defenses.
Low-cost, battlefield-proven tech but geopolitics may block export deals.

The Defense Ministry’s confirmation that Rafael’s laser interception systems were used during the ongoing Swords of Iron war comes at a pivotal moment.

NATO countries are preparing to raise their defense spending to 5% of gross domestic product (GDP) a shift expected to generate some €800 billion in procurement.

With Israeli companies Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and Elbit Systems already embedded in NATO supply chains, their next-generation laser systems could become Israel’s next multi-billion-dollar defense export — if diplomatic friction doesn’t block the path.

Despite more than 10,000 successful interceptions since 2011 Israel’s Iron Dome air-defense system, developed by Rafael has never been sold as a full system to any foreign country.

While the United Kingdom purchased its battle management center and the United States Marine Corps acquired its interceptors, no nation to date has received the complete platform.

This contrasts with the international success of other Israeli air-defense systems.
1. The Arrow 3, developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) was sold to Germany in a $3.5 billion deal.
2. David’s Sling, another Rafael system, was sold to Finland for €317 million.

Rafael’s Barak MX system has racked up roughly $10 billion in global sales.
Despite Iron Dome’s strong brand recognition, it has lagged behind these systems in terms of foreign adoption.

Meanwhile, other Israeli-made weapons have already become NATO standards.
Rafael’s Spike anti-tank guided missiles have been sold in the billions of dollars and are produced in Germany, with previous manufacturing in Poland.

In recent years, Elbit’s PULS rocket artillery system has gained momentum, with confirmed sales to Germany, the Netherlands, and Denmark, alongside several undisclosed NATO members.

Ukraine’s successful use of comparable systems against Russian targets has only added to the demand.

Israel's hopes for its defense technologies:
Israel now hopes its laser-based interception technology will be next in line for global adoption and it’s betting billions on it.

The Defense Ministry recently disclosed the existence of two laser systems:
1. Magen Or (Iron Beam) a high-powered 100-kilowatt laser developed jointly by Rafael and Elbit Systems,
2. and Lahav Barzel (Iron Sting), a smaller 30-kilowatt system designed by Rafael.

Magen Or has intercepted short-range rockets at distances of up to 10 kilometers in tests.
The IDF is expected to deploy an operational version by the end of the year.

Lahav Barzel, which was used in combat for the first time during Swords of Iron, is more compact and energy-efficient. Rafael and Israeli vehicle manufacturer Plasan have already developed a mobile version mounted on Plasan’s SandCat armored vehicle, enabling rapid redeployment between combat zones.

Footage released by the Defense Ministry showed Lahav Barzel successfully intercepting unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched by Hezbollah.

The laser doesn’t obliterate the drones in dramatic fashion — rather, it focuses heat on the drone’s wing or fuselage until the structural integrity fails and the UAV crashes. The cost per interception is just a few dollars, limited to the electricity required to power the laser.

By contrast, using interceptor missiles or air-to-air munitions can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars per engagement.
For Americans, that cost-efficiency could resonate strongly, particularly given current US debates over defense budgets and aid allocations.

As warfare becomes increasingly reliant on drone technology — seen most visibly in Ukraine and Russia’s tit-for-tat strikes involving hundreds of UAVs each week — Israel’s laser defense systems offer something rare: proven battlefield results at a fraction of the price.

The case for Israel’s laser technology is not only tactical but financial.

However, Rafael CEO Yoav Turgeman acknowledged that export success also depends on geopolitical considerations — particularly growing European criticism of Israeli operations in Gaza.

France — That anti-Israel villain again — for example, reportedly attempted to dissuade Germany from purchasing the Arrow 3 system, and other European countries have downplayed their acquisitions of Israeli-made systems in response to domestic political concerns.

While some European defense ministries are eager to procure Israeli technologies, officials are increasingly constrained by the political environment. Nevertheless, the security rationale remains persuasive.

NATO states such as Finland, Sweden, Poland, and Germany — countries increasingly concerned about potential Russian aggression — view laser interception systems as a vital new layer of defense.

While the United States has deployed 60-kilowatt laser systems on naval vessels, Israel appears poised to be the first country to field a land-based laser system in operational service.

Israel will block Saudi-led delegation of FMs from visiting West Bank — report

Israel has decided to block a delegation of Middle Eastern foreign ministers led by Saudi Arabia’s top diplomat from making a landmark visit to the West Bank on Sunday, a senior Israeli official confirms to The Times of Israel.

The foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar and Turkey were slated to meet with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah on Sunday.

The senior Israeli official says the Palestinian Authority was planning to host a meeting aimed “at promoting the establishment of a Palestinian state.”

Saudi Arabia and France are cohosting a conference at the United Nations next month aimed at advancing a two-state solution, and Paris is weighing whether or not it will use the platform to recognize a Palestinian state.

the Israeli official asserts:
Quote
“Israel will not cooperate with moves designed to harm it and its security,”

The move is likely to further strain Israel’s relations with regional Arab states, which have already deteriorated significantly since the outbreak of the Gaza war.

False: UN aid chief admits starving Gazan baby claim was amid 'desperation' to let aid in

Fletcher admitted that when he made the comment, he was 'desperate' to get aid into Gaza, acknowledging that he needed to be more precise with language.

UN aid chief Tom Fletcher expressed regret for his recent claim that 14,000 babies could die within 48 hours in Gaza without aid — a claim the UN retracted - in an interview with the BBC on Friday.

Fletcher acknowledged a need to be "precise" with language, admitting that when he made the comments, “we were desperately trying to get that aid in.”

"We were being told we couldn't get it in, and we knew that we'd probably have a couple of days, a window to get as much aid in as possible, and that was being denied, and we were desperate to get that in. And so yes, we've got to be utterly precise with our language, and we've clarified that," he said

After retracting Fletcher’s statement, the UN later cited a report that said there could be 14,100 cases of malnutrition in children in Gaza between April 2025 and March 2026 a timeframe of one year, not two days.

When questioned by the BBC about his claim of “10,000 aid trucks on the Gaza border, cleared and ready to go” — a claim that had been refuted by the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) Fletcher said that he “especially needed to be careful and really precise."

Despite his retraction, Fletcher still maintained that Israel has caused forced starvation in Gaza, amounting to a war crime. “It is classified as a war crime.
Obviously, these are issues for the courts to take the judgement on, and ultimately for history to take a judgement on,” he told the BBC.

'One of the Most Severe Blows': Could Israel's Gaza War Cost It Staunch German Support?
Gaza war testing Germany's long unconditional commitment to Israel

Germany the second-largest supplier of Arms to Israel, says Arms supplies to Israel to be re-evaluated:
German minister: Future weapons deliveries to Israel depend on Gaza situation

Germany will decide whether or not to approve new weapons shipments to Israel based on an assessment of the humanitarian situation in Gaza, Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said in an interview with the Sueddeutsche Zeitung published on Friday.

The delivery of German arms to Israel will be evaluated and possibly restricted in the light of Israeli action in the Gaza Strip, Wadephul says:
1. New chancellor Merz's rebuke of Israel over military actions in Gaza marks big shift
2. Move driven by souring of public opinion on Israel in a much more diverse Germany
3. Germany joins major European partners in turning increasingly critical of Israel
4. Unclear if actions will follow tougher rhetoric on Israel from German leadership
5. Need to atone for Holocaust long drove wholehearted German support for Israel

Deteriorating relations with Germany — a key EU power — could jeopardize Israel-EU agreements;
a warning from Israel's strongest allies in Berlin should give Israeli leaders sleepless nights.

Israel’s national security minister mocks Macron over Gaza criticism
Itamar Ben-Gvir, the far-right Israeli national security minister, claims “Macron plays into the hands of Islamic terrorism”.

He wrote on X in reference to wife Brigitte Macron appearing to slap the French president in the face upon arrival in Vietnam earlier this week.

He also posted an AI-generated image of Macron wearing a helmet while standing next to his wife lol
“His flattery of Hamas will not end with a simple slap upon exiting the plane, and even a helmet will not help,”

In the online post, which was published in French, Ben-Gvir also said;
Quote
“Islamic terrorism will explode in the faces of all French citizens”.
“By the time Macron understands this, it will be too late. Citizens of France, wake up.”

Ben-Gvir is among the most extreme ministers in the most far-right government in Israel’s history, and has long been advocating for;
1. blocking all aid entering Gaza
2. and fully occupying the Palestinian territory.

Terrorists took Kfar Aza in an hour. Recapturing it took the IDF days uhwhat probe finds;

1. First soldiers only arrived at the kibbutz, hours into October 7 onslaught,
2. failed to reach ‘young generation’ neighborhood before all kidnappings were carried out.

On the morning of October 7, 2023, some 5,600 panic terrorists swarmed into the unsuspecting Gaza border communities of Kibbutzim, murdering and abducting dozens of residents as IDF struggled to reach the area for several hours, in what would later become one of the longest battles of the onslaught.

1. terrorists on paragliders landed in the kibbutzim. They were able to fly over the border under the cover of the massive rocket fire.
2. At each entrance, a pickup truck arrived with several terrorists, drove into the kibbutzim and dropped off terrorists, in the neighborhoods.
3. Additional Hamas terrorists arrived on motorbikes.

Nukhba force terrorists from the Daraj-Tuffah and Sheikh Radwan battalions in Hamas’s Gaza City Brigade began their final preparations for the invasion and massacre late October 6 sometime after 9 p.m. Other Hamas terrorists were alerted once the attack was underway.

They would begin the first wave of the attack in the early morning.
Residents were left to fend entirely for themselves for almost the first two hours of the onslaught.

The army — plunged into complete disarray by the shock attack on dozens of towns and military posts — failed to come to their rescue as terrorists moved from home to home, kidnapping, brutalizing and massacring civilianscrywell into the afternoon.

The probe concluded that the IDF “failed in its mission to protect” the border residents, largely because
Quote
"the military had never prepared for such an event — Israeli communities being captured by terrorists, as well as widescale attacks on numerous towns and army bases simultaneously — by thousands of terrorists"
despite numerous Red Flags and Warnings by Border spotters dismissed as 'James Bond' fancy fantasy mad

Unlike other towns attacked on October 7 fighting in Kfar Aza, a community of around 950 lasted for days after the initial attack, as dozens of terrorists fortified themselves inside homes across the kibbutz.

The investigation found that Kfar Aza was captured by terrorists within the first hour of the attack, and the first troops did not arrive for hours after that.crazy

The kibbutz was not prepared for any sort of wide-scale frontal assault, according to the probe;
1. The community had a basic security fence and there were few surveillance cameras;
2. the local security team’s weapons were locked up in the armory;
3. and the team did not have handheld radios;

24 units; little coordination all day uhwhat Even when the first troops did arrive, there was no command and control directing their movements.

In the kibbutz’s neighborhood for young families, where most of the kidnappings took place in the late morning, Hamas terrorists moved around freely while troops on the kibbutz were caught up elsewhere.

The chaos was compounded by the fact that the army’s Gaza Division, which has responsibility for that area, had been overrun by terrorists and was unable to provide soldiers with intelligence, including information on how many terrorists were inside the kibbutz.

During the onslaught, some 24 different Israeli units were involved in battling Hamas in Kfar Aza, and there was little coordination crazy between them until the overnight hours between October 7 and 8.

The probe found that clearing the community of terrorists took nearly three days. Additionally, there were significant delays in helping evacuate civilians from Kfar Aza, an operation that only properly began late at night on October 7.

IDF only arrived in Nir Oz after Hamas terrorists left because it was 'far away'

Besides all of the “standard” disasters of October 7, Kibbutz Nir Oz stands out because no IDF soldiers arrived there before the last of the some 300 to 500 Hamas terrorists attacking the kibbutz had already returned to Gaza, having killed 47 Israelis and kidnapped another 76

Put differently, much larger IDF forces came to Be’eri much earlier, but Be’eri is further north, parallel to central Gaza, whereas Nir Oz is further south, parallel to Khan Yunis in Gaza.

Over 150 terrorists were ultimately killed by Israeli forces in the Kfar Aza kibbutz and adjacent areas, and three were captured alive.
A fourth terrorist involved in the onslaught was later nabbed during the ground offensive in Gaza.

The timeline of the attack;

According to the IDF’s investigation, the Hamas assault on Kfar Aza began shortly before 7 a.m. on October 7, but would only end in the afternoon hours of October 10 when the final terrorist remaining in the kibbutz was killed.

Only at 7:34 a.m. was a first text message sent to residents warning them of a terrorist infiltration.
The person normally responsible for the emergency messages, Dorit Wertheim, was killed at 7:28 a.m.

By 8 a.m., some 150 Hamas terrorists were inside the kibbutz. panic
The Golani troops, in a Namer armored personnel carrier (APC) breached one of the gates of the community and reached the southern neighborhood.

They responded to WhatsApp messages from resident Erez Yitzken, who was wounded after Hamas terrorists set off a bomb outside his bomb shelter and opened fire on him.

Israeli Air Force IAF drones and helicopters at the same time were carrying out several airstrikes in the area, mostly along the kibbutz’s security perimeter.

As night fell, some 1,000 Israeli troops were inside Kfar Aza. Still, around 50 terrorists remained, barricading themselves in homes.
It remains unclear confused why they remained in the kibbutz, instead of fleeing.

Only by 11 p.m. did the IDF begin an organized evacuation of residents from Kfar Aza, as it worked to get an accurate picture of the civilian situation there.
By Monday morning, October 9, there were 10-20 terrorists still in the kibbutz.crazy

The bodies of 101 terrorists were located in the kibbutz, and another 50 were found outside.
Those killed outside Kfar Aza were mostly targeted from the air by the IAF drones and helicopters.

Israel's 'great defense' "only as good as the weakest link" the chain broke when Hamas applied October 7
Failure of policies set by the Netanyahu political leadership and Shin Bet asleep at the wheel despite numerous Red Flags and Warnings by Border spotters

Israel undone by complacency, reliance on unmanned technology and rudderless chaos when October 7 happened utterly unprepared.
IDF colossal failures — No control No command directions — that allowed throngs of terrorists to overrun the kibbutzim and hold them for hours.

Nearly every single home in the border communities was either damaged or destroyed amid the terror onslaught.

Arrogant and irresponsible IDF soldiers frown left so many markers on social media that Hamas invaders on October 7 had a complete breakdown of nearly every unit, sub-unit, and building within the Nahal Oz IDF base when they overwhelmed it, killed 53 soldiers, and took 10 hostage on October 7, 2023.

Saudi warns Iran to reach nuclear deal with Trump or risk Israeli strike

US envoy 'completely dissatisfied' with Hamas response to Gaza Strip peace plan: 'Proposal must be accepted'
Modified: 52 min ago1 hour agoin Abroad

GAZA CITY - Hamas says it has submitted a response to the mediators on the US proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. It is not known what the response contains, but in a statement on Telegram the terror group does not reject the plan. US special envoy Steve Witkoff is nevertheless "completely dissatisfied."

Hamas says it has submitted a response to mediators on the US proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

“This proposal aims at a permanent ceasefire, a complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and ensuring the flow of aid to our people,” the Hamas statement said. “As part of the deal, 10 Israeli prisoners and 18 bodies will be returned in exchange for an agreed number of Palestinian prisoners.”

Despite dire situation in Gaza, Hamas appears to have no interest in ceasefire yet

The United States had previously stated that Israel had already agreed to the American proposal. Hamas submitted a response on Saturday afternoon. According to an official of the terrorist group, the content was positive, but a few things still needed to be changed. It is not known what changes were involved.

The official, Basem Naim, stressed that Hamas did not reject the proposal, as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed on Saturday night. According to Israel, Hamas is to blame for the war not ending.

'Effective rejection of US plan'
Hamas reportedly wants to spread the release of the hostages over 60 days. An Israeli official sees the terror group's proposal as an "effective rejection" of the American plan.

US Special Envoy Witkoff believes Hamas “must accept” the proposal. “That will serve as a basis for rapprochement talks, which can begin immediately this week,” he writes to X. “That is the only way we can achieve a 60-day ceasefire in the coming days, in which half of the living hostages and half of those who have died return home.”

Sa'ar blamed Hamas for the latest failure in cease-fire negotiations on Saturday, after Hamas asked for changes in the latest American proposal.

"If France and the UK want to reach a cease-fire," Sa'ar wrote on X referring to European sanctions that the countries threatened:
"pressure should be put on Hamas that continues to say 'no,' instead of attacking Israel, which says 'yes.'"

Earlier May Haaretz learned that Israel told the United Kingdom and France it would annex parts of the West Bank if they recognized Palestinian statehood.

The activist group said on Saturday: A Freedom Flotilla Coalition boat will sail toward the Gaza Strip on Sunday in an attempt
1. "to break Israel's illegal siege,
2. to stop their starvation of Palestinians ...
3. [and] their genocide in Gaza,"

The flotilla is set to include climate activist Greta Thunberg, actor Liam Cunningham and European politician Rima Hassan as passengers.
The coalition will hold a press conference on Zoom ahead of setting sail.

UN official Francesca Albanese warned the passengers to "stay safe," and asked the international community to "make sure they are protected."

Earlier in May, another Freedom Flotilla Coalition vessel was struck by drones off the coast of Malta.

After around two and a half weeks, during which the activists negotiated with the Maltese authorities, the entire crew was evacuated from the severely damaged ship and, according to the coalition's announcement, returned to their countries.

Holocaust memorial, two synagogues in Paris vandalized with green paint

French politicians condemn acts; interior minister has called for heightened surveillance for Jewish community ahead of Shavuot holiday.

France’s Holocaust memorial, two synagogues and a restaurant in central Paris were vandalized with green paint overnight, according to police sources on Saturday, prompting condemnation from government and city officials.

French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau wrote on X:
Quote
“I am deeply disgusted by these heinous acts targeting the Jewish community,”
No arrests have been made so far.

Retailleau last week called for “visible and dissuasive” security measures at Jewish-linked sites amid concerns over possible antisemitic acts.
In a separate message seen by AFP, the interior minister again ordered heightened surveillance on Friday, ahead of the upcoming Jewish holiday of Shavuot.

The French Jewish community, one of the largest in the world, has for months been on edge in the face of a growing number of antisemitic attacks and desecrations of Jewish memorials since the Gaza war erupted on October 7, 2023 when Hamas terrorists invaded Israel, killing some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and kidnapping 251.

Retailleau said in the message seen by Agence France-Presse:
“Antisemitic acts account for more than 60 percent of anti-religious acts, and the Jewish community is particularly vulnerable,”

Paris authorities will file a complaint over the paint incident, said Anne Hidalgo, the city’s mayor. She said:
Quote
I condemn these acts of intimidation in the strongest possible terms. Antisemitism has no place in our city or in our Republic,”
Same old, Same old... but antisemitism raging

In May 2024 red hand graffiti was painted beneath the wall at the memorial in central Paris honoring individuals who saved Jews from persecution during the 1940-44 Nazi occupation of France.

Over the past two years, France has seen a “historic” rise in antisemitic incidents. Recent attacks outside of Paris included:
1. attempted arson on a synagogue in the town of La Grande-Motte in August,
2. a fire at the synagogue in the city of Rouen in May 2024,
3. and the gang rape of a 12-year-old Jewish girl by three teenagers hurling antisemitic remarks in mid-June in Courbevoie.

And Macron That anti-Israel villain is rewarding the terrorists when antisemitism rages in his own backyard — Go figure

Ït is almost too late for Europe.

Enough evidence of the continued presence of Hamas and Hezbollah in Europe in general and Germany in particular, despite efforts by authorities to limit or prevent their activities, especially following the October 7, 2023 attack and massacre in Israel.
Germany, like other European countries, has always walked a fine line between counterterrorism, its commitment to absorbing immigrants and the protection of human rights. That was why for years if did not designate Hamas and Hezbollah as terrorist organizations or outlaw outlawing them, allowing their organizations and charities to raise funds for terrorist activities which also targeted German.
Germany has been a focal point for Hamas activity in Europe. Over the years, as it has in other European countries, Hamas has focused on fundraising and spreading its ideology beyond the borders of “Palestine.” That has been done primarily through civilian organizations which maintain a low profile and conceal their connection to the movement. Some of these organizations were managed by Hamas activists and supporters instructed by “external” Hamas operatives and maintained regular contact with senior figures in the movement.

Exact circumstances of today's incident remain unclear

A number of sources in Rafah in southern Gaza have reported that Palestinians gathering near an aid distribution centre were killed or wounded in the early hours of this morning by what they say was Israeli tank fire.

Images have been circulating of the dead and wounded being taken on donkey carts to the nearest treatment centres.

A British surgeon in Gaza said there had been what he called a mass casualty incident. But the exact circumstances of the incident remain unclear.

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation has denied there were injuries or fatalities at its distribution site - and it accuses Hamas of being behind the reports.

The incident comes hours after Hamas delivered a non-committal response to the latest US-backed ceasefire proposal - which made clear the distance between the two sides still remains too wide to bridge.

Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry has just published its daily report on casualties in the Gaza Strip.

It says:

37 people have been killed, including five recovered bodies, and 136 people have been injured over the past 24 hours
A number of people remain under the rubble and on the roads, unable to be reached
The number of people killed in Gaza since Israel resumed its offensive on 18 March has risen to 4,149.
The total death toll in Gaza since Israel launched a military campaign in response to Hamas's cross-border attack on 7 October 2023 now stands at 54,418, with 124,190 people injured

The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza has shared a video, external of British surgeon Victoria Rose, who is in the emergency department at Nasser hospital, describing the aftermath of today's incident.

"We've had a shooting at the GHF aid distribution centre near Rafah," she says, adding: "It's absolute carnage here."

Rose says many injured people were taken from the site to local field hospitals.

"But we have had an extortionate amount of people come through the door," she says, adding locals quote figures between 100 and 200.

The injuries are all gunshot wounds, she adds.

It's still unclear what exactly happened at the aid distribution centre. As we've mentioned, our colleagues at BBC Verify are trying to establish the facts and we’ll bring you the latest information as soon as we get it.
