The DDA's "Millennium" investigation has reopened the history book of a restaurant that has been active in Piedmont for decades. Domenico "Micu Mc Donald" Agresta's statements are fundamental

TURIN A solid and substantial connection between the 'ndrangheta articulations active in Volpiano and Buccinasco , provinces of Turin and Milan respectively. Of course, the details that emerged from the recent "Millennium" investigation - with the arrest of 97 individuals - are not new in these parts where the 'ndrangheta, strongly linked to Platì, has been well present for decades. A circumstance already crystallized through a series of anti-ndrangheta operations and dozens of arrests, especially in recent years.
Agresta and Assisi
Among these, the operation “ Cerbero ” carried out by the Anti-Mafia District of Turin which had hit hard the Agresta and Assisi families, recognized as active in drug trafficking between Italy and South America, and considered to be the heads of the 'ndrangheta premises of Volpiano and San Giusto Canavese, in the Turin area. Already at the time, we are talking about 2016, people such as Antonio, Domenico and Francesco Barbaro, sons of Giuseppe alias “u castanu”, were called into question. But it was with the “Minotauro” investigation that the existence, in Volpiano, of a 'ndrangheta premises was ascertained, composed mainly of members of the Marando-Agresta families, originally from the municipality of Piatì.
The stories of “Micu Mc Donald”
However, a significant contribution to the investigators, both of the Turin and Reggio Calabria DDAs, was provided by the collaborator of justice Domenico Agresta “Micu Mc Donald” , a member of the homonymous 'ndrangheta family of Platì and a leading member of the Volpiano club, convicted with a final sentence for the crimes of malignant association and murder. Having moved to Volpiano in 1988, twenty years later he was arrested for the murder of Giovanni Trapasso, a man of his own clan, which took place on the night between 15 and 16 October 2008 in Borgiallo, in the Turin area, at the hands of the same collaborator. His statements, considered reliable by the investigators, provided a decisive contribution in the “Mandamento Jonico” trial but, above all, allowed us to reconstruct historical dynamics and crucial aspects linked precisely to the presence of the 'ndrangheta in the Turin area, linked to that of Platì, for decades.
The origins of Volpiano
His grandfather, Domenico Agresta, was the founding father of the Volpiano club, later becoming its “local boss” together with his uncle Michele Perre and then being, at least for a certain period, the “responsible” for the 'ndrangheta in Piedmont. Then there is his uncle, Antonio Agresta (class of '60), already convicted in “Minotauro”, as well as the other two uncles, Natale and Francesco Agresta, convicted only in drug matters, although both have been considered members of the 'ndrangheta club of Volpiano for a long time.
The story of Domenico Agresta is particular: thanks to the intuition and financial contribution of his uncle, Pasquale Marando, he also had the opportunity to attend one of the most renowned private schools and thus complete the first cycle of studies at the Collegio San Francesco. Then, however, the collaborator was progressively involved in the "family business", especially in drug trafficking, by his cousin Domenico, son of Natale Agresta, brother of his paternal grandfather Domenico.
The eternal bond with Platì
As emerged from past investigations and filtered through the statements of the collaborator himself, although "Micu Mc Donald" had lived in the North since he was a child, he never neglected to cultivate his relationships with Calabria and, in particular, with Platì. Here, in fact, he still had many relatives alive on both his paternal and maternal sides, and it was here that he "came down" during the summer and Christmas holidays and for events of the most varied nature, such as baptisms, weddings or funerals. It was precisely during the periods of stay in Calabria, together with the family, that many subjects of Piatì, as a sign of respect, took care to give him gifts and contributions in money for the maintenance of his father in prison in order to let him know "who was thinking of him".
