Arab and Chinese underworld bankers collaborated worldwide
In a large-scale international operation, Europol and the Spanish National Police say a major hawala bank has been dismantled. The criminal organisation of underground banking consisted of two closely working branches – one of Arab origin and one of Chinese origin. The network, according to Europol, channelled criminal proceeds from drug and human trafficking. Fifteen people are in pre-trial detention.
