I will definitely be in my seat on opening day. This looks pretty good.
IMHO, DeNiro's dual portrayal is a big risk.
Either it will be ranked as one of his best performances ever,or the critics will savage it as gimmicky,overreaching,and the one he should have passed on.
Tom Hardy pulled it off in "Legend",but I think that because of DeNiro's status as an icon, he will face much more intense scrutiny,
Bobby better totally nail this one.

The name for the movie -- "Alto Knights" -- actually comes from a real life Luciano/Genovese Family social club that operated as the clan's acknowledged headquarters since at least the 1920s. It was located on Mulberry Street in the heart of Manhattan's Little Italy neighborhood.

Double pay cheque. He is too old anyway both Costello and Genovese were much younger in the late 50s. Bobby is 81 to play two bosses in their prime is not realistic IMO.

I do expect he will give a good performance of both charactes who are pretty different but you can't stop age.
But I also see very few heirs to the likes of De Niro, Pacino, Keitel and Pesci that great generation is fading away.

I have a shiny new dime that says DeNiro gets an Oscar Nomination,partially because he does a good job,but also,partially,because he's Robert DeNiro.
Not sure how fair that is.

In my twisted sense of humor,I think it would be hilarious if he got nominated for Best Actor,and Best Supporting Actor.

And De Niro doesn't look that old. He may be 81, but he can certainly pull off playing these guys who both looked old in their fifties. I actually think Costello was close to 70 when he got shot. Trailer looks good

He could play Costello, but Vito Genovese was late 50s at the time.
I had the same feeling with the Irishman Sheeran was still a middle-aged guy when all the shit with hoffa happened.
De Niro in his prime is not the same guy let's face it he's old.

But Vito looked like an old man in 1959. Let’s also not forget that The Irishman had scenes with De Niro where Sheeran was supposed to be in his twenties!! Remember those 1940s scenes? We all know how goofy that looked. At least there’s no de-aging tech used in Alto Knights. That being said, I completely agree that the De Niro of today is not the De Niro of 1980. I was one of the first to raise those concerns when they went ahead with The Irishman, but my main gripe was always with the de-aging tech.

Almost fell asleep watching this in the budget theater today.

Watched it at home the other night. More disappointing than the Irishman. I watched Heat the night before. That's a great fucking movie. Speakers blasting for the shootout scene!

I tried to watch it the other night and did fall asleep. Was very disappointed in this. They put this shit out just to say they did
