But stage presence and musical body of work? Sinatra. But you should love Dean, too. He was one of the great Italian Americans smile.

Dino had plenty of imitators. My favorite was Teddy Randazzo, a talented singer, musician and songwriter in his own right. He does a perfect Dino imitation in one of his Fifties singles, "I Could Not Ask for More."

By chance, I put two Sinatra classics on my iPod today: "I Think of You" and "The Best is Yet to Come." I also have two Elvis's: "Blue Moon of Kentucky" and "One Night." The original of "One Night" was done by Fats Domino and has subtly different lyrics.

TB,

I LOVE EP's "One Night." So sexy. smile I had no idea Fats Domino sang it and thought it was an EP original. Hmmm Knowing Elvis' version and Fats singing style I can imagine his version is much different.

Elvis's "One Night" is just about my favorite of his singles. But Fats's and his lyrics are different. In Fats's original, he's a repentent sinner. Elvis ain't never heard of no sin, as you'll see:

Fats's version:
One night of sin
Is what I'm now payin' for
The things I did and I saw
Would make the earth stand still

Don't call my name
It makes me feel so ashamed
I've lost my sweet helping hand
I've got myself to blame

Elvis's version:

One night with you
Is what Im now praying for
The things that we two could plan
Would make my dreams come true

Just call my name
And Ill be right by your side
I want your sweet helping hand
My loves too strong to hide

Thanks TB. Little changes in a word here and there gives the song a whole different meaning hu?

I never had the single of "One Night" but I had the album (I'm sure you'll remember) 50,000,000 Fans Can't Be Wrong. That along with, "I Got Stung" are among my favorites. But heck, I admit it, I like the entire LP. smile

Btw, another great song (not on that album) "Such A Night."

Sinatra > Elvis -- Singing

Elvis > Sinatra -- Entertaining

You can see how visibly sick he was. So sad. The [was that he kept on performing for his millions of fans.
